Coraline Koumpounophobia

Neil Gaiman's CoralineA promotional clip has been released for Coraline, the upcoming movie adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s book. The writer is helping to the promotion of the movie. In the clip below he dwells on Koumpounophobia, the phobia of buttons:

Neil Gaiman Coraline

“I often think that the greatest of human inventions is the humble button.”

Neil Gaiman

The story of Coraline is about a young girl who finds a secret door and discovers an alternate version of her life on the other side. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life and the people in it – only much better although they’ve got buttons instead of eyes… But when this seemingly perfect world turns dangerous, and her other parents (including her Other Mother voiced by Teri Hatcher) try to trap her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to escape this increasingly perilous world – and save her family.

A is for adventures, the kind that you fear when others' intentions are often unclear. - Caroline movie abc book

Well, actually the words on those posters of Coraline are a bit too advanced for a kid learning letters. But I like them anyway! Most are worth a look, like the letter z for example:

Z is for Zanzibar: where chocolate beetles come from surprisingly tasty, if you can catch one.

Coraline is a character who will catch the attention of both kids and grown-ups!

Henry Selick, the king of stop motion who once brought us The Nightmare Before Christmas, has been busy working on Coraline, the movie adaptation of a novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman. The film awesomely combines stop motion with CGI: and the result is incredibly appealing!

I suppose the marketing team pushed for showing up some colors, the precedent promotional material was indeed a bit too dark.
