This other clip of District 9 shows how MNU Agent Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), through playing around with an alien device, contracts the mysterious virus that will transform him into an hybrid: Continue reading »
The MNU agent played by Sharlto Copley has to face a gang in this new red band clip of District 9, the upcoming sci-fi movie directed by Neill Blomkamp:
Plot:
“In the movie, aliens made first contact with Earth twenty-eight years prior to the beginning of the film, after which humanity waited for either a hostile attack or for giant advances in technology, though neither came. Instead, the aliens that arrived were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa’s District 9 as the world’s nations argued over what to do with them. Patience over the alien situation ran out and control over them was contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens’ welfare. MNU stands to receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens’ advanced weaponry work.
MNU, thus far, has failed in making the alien weaponry work, for activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA. Tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), through playing around with an alien device, contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable, for he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Van der Merwe becomes ostracized and friendless and comes to hide in District 9.”
Judging from the painting on the wall, those aliens aren’t so friendly… So no wonder people at the MNU are trying to protect us! But let’s not forget that there are two sides to every coin… So let’s not take at face value everything that comes from the MNU…
;-P
The movie GI Joe is already out in theaters and now the next blockbuster not to miss is District 9, an upcoming sci-fi movie directed by Neill Blomkamp:
Director Neill Blomkamp and Actor Sharlto Copley presents the upcoming sci-fi movie District 9 in this new promo featurette:
Looks damn real, but no need to rush on CNN (I almost did)! It’s just a movie. No alien spaceship landing in South Africa or anywhere else in the world. Maybe better like this anyway: don’t think we would have the kind of DDT required to get rid of such giant alien locusts!
The movie District 9 hits theaters on August 14, 2009.
:)
In the movie District 9 mankind is gonna make close encounters of the Third Kind! The aliens will even live among us as refugees. Well, not exactly among us, actually those sentient beings will be restricted to District 9, the shanty town they landed on. Watch below the latest full length trailer of District 9:
Coexistence has never been easy
Why won’t we let them leave?
Call me anti alien but hey if this was to happen, I hope that we could extort (or better, trade) as many new technologies as possible from the District 9 aliens!
:)
Plot:
“An extraterrestrial race whose ship has run out of fuel is forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth where they were given the status of refugees (just to be exploited later on). They find a kindred spirit in a government agent that is exposed to their biotechnology.”
A new full length trailer of District 9 is expected to show up online this Wednesday.

There is a sci-fi movie not to miss this Summer: it’s District 9 directed by Neill Blomkamp. Just take a look to those two viral clips of District 9 to understand why:
They are not welcome.
They are not accepted.
They are not Human.
Head to Apple site to watch in HD.
The premise of District is twisting the usual alien invasion plot: in District 9 the aliens come to Earth in a huge spaceship but are running out ‘fuel’, so instead of invaders they transform into refugees.
The movie trailer of District 9, upcoming sci-fi movie directed by Neill Blomkamp, will be shown in front of Wolverine starting May 1rst. It will show up online later on during the day via apple.
Ok, the trailer of District 9 is now available:

The aliens are called the ‘Non-Humans’ and are forced to work the Multi National United company (MNU for short). A kind of apartheid discriminating the non-humans has been enforced. Throughout the film, the Non-Humans will try to free themselves from MNU’s grasp.”
The movie District 9 is starring Jason Cope, Robert Hobbs and Sharlto Copley. It will be released on August 14, 2009.

Thanks to Slashfilm, here below a first look at Sharlto Copley as Wikus, a Multi-National United agent who’s been infected by alien goo: (Click on the picture to enlarge it.)
A viral website has been set up for District 9 (here): they were obviously inspired by Cloverfield.
Quite sure that District 9 will shape up as the surprise of this Summer. Neill Blomkamp did indeed a good job with his Halo short films and I believe he can stretch his skills to deliver a great sci-fi feature movie.
