Shanghai New Poster

A series of new international posters of Shanghai, the upcoming period spy movie starring John Cusack, Gong Li, Chow Yun-Fat, and Ken Watanabe:

Plot:
“In the months leading up to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, an American man (John Cusack) arrives in Shanghai to find his friend recently murdered. In investigating his friend’s death, he stumbles upon a secret the United States government has been keeping and falls in love in the process.”

John Cusack isn’t as popular as Chown Yun Fat in China, that’s probably why Chow Yun Fat’s head is prominently showing in the foreground of the two first posters of Shanghai while John Cusack is barely seen in the background!

SHANGHAI
Plot:
“Nothing is what it seems in this Casablanca-style international thriller set in the ancient Chinese city a week before the attack on Pearl Harbor. U.S. Secret Agent Paul Soames (John Cusack) has just arrived to investigate the murder of his best friend, only to become quickly immersed in a web of conspiracy and lies that beset the city. Shadowed by a Japanese intelligence officer Tanaka (Ken Watanabe), Soames’ investigation quickly centers on a charismatic local gangster, Anthony Lanting (Chow Yun-Fat) – and Lanting’s beautiful wife, Anna (Gong Li). Before long, Soames and Anna are involved in an affair that will put everything they have at stake. As national loyalties are traded fast-and-loose for those of the heart, Soames and Anna must race to solve the mystery and make it out of occupied China before the city’s collapse.”

I wonder the film hasn’t been released. Judging from the trailer, and considering the great cast, it looks like a fairly good movie. So I don’t really understand why they keep postponing the release of the movie Shanghai… Any idea?

Shanghai Movie John Cusack in Tuxedo and Chow Yun-Fat in a Chinese Outfit

Shanghai is an upcoming period movie set in the years preceding the full invasion of China by Japan during World War II. This mystery drama movie is starring John Cusack, Gong Li, Chow Yun-Fat and
Ken Watanabe.

John Cusack is like a dandy in his tuxedo:

John Cusack is a real dandy in Shanghai!

And Chow Yun-Fat looks like a mandarin, high ranking public official in the former Chinese Empire, in his traditional outfit:

I think they got it right for the costumes of the movie Shanghai. It will be a nice period movie.

Shanghai John Cusack Went To Asia

The Cast of Shanghai the movie.

John Cusack went to Asia for Shanghai, an upcoming period movie directed by Mikael Hafstrom. Back to the Western world he made a stop in London in June with the cast of Shanghai for a conference (was also to shoot a few scenes). And back from Asia the guy is rather quiet … Is he under the soothing influence of Confucianism or is he just blase? Check below you’ll see by yourself:

They could have made an effort for this promotional event… They don’t really sale the movie… I suppose John Cusack is better on screen than in real life…
