Director Patrick Lussier (who brought us the latest remake of My Bloody Valentine) will helm the movie Drive Angry,an upcoming thriller starring Nicolas Cage in the lead role.
Here below the first official teaser poster of Drive Angry:
(Click on the poster to enlarge it.)
Plot:
“Driven by rage, a man is chasing the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The rescue spins out of control as the chase gets bloodier by the mile, leaving bodies strewn along the highway.”
Drive Angry explores further the concept of vengeful daddy developed in Taken and Law Abiding Citizen. But it also brings the whole thing to a new dimension: Drive Angry will be indeed in 3D! Yep, Nicolas Cage in a 3D movie!

A new movie trailer has been released for The Messenger, an upcoming drama movie directed by Oren Moverman and starring Ben Foster, Woody harrelson and Samantha Morton:
Plot:
“An American soldier struggles with an ethical dilemma when he becomes involved with a widow of a fallen officer.”
Can’t miss a movie starring Woody Harrelson: The Messenger movie is definitely on my list.
The film is set to open in limited theaters on November 13, 2009.
:)
Here’s the US trailer of Me and Orson Welles, an upcoming movie starring Zac Efron:
ME AND ORSON WELLES
Plot:
“The film is set in 1937, and the plot follows a young student (Zac Efron) who finds love in the theater after being cast in a production of Julius Caesar directed by Orson Welles (Christian McKay).”
Zac Efron may look like a young brat but one can’t deny that he is a good actor. We are likely to see him more and more often on screen!

The Flash, that superhero in red spandex who is gifted with super-speed, is likely to come in theaters at full speed sooner or later! Indeed, Warner Bros has been planning a Flash movie since a while. The rumor thought it was canceled, but the Flash is still kicking and alive: Scriptwriter Dan Mazeau who has been hired to pen the screenplay of this upcoming Flash movie told IGN that the film is definitely moving forward:
“The Flash has not been hobbled. Everything is moving forward as planned… I’m still writing the script. Geoff Johns is still consulting. Flash fans have no cause for concern, and — IMO — lots to be excited about.”
Screenwriter Dan Mazeau
The Flash had many incarnations along the years. I would like the film to focus on Barry Allen: a police scientist who gained super-speed when bathed by chemicals after a shelf of them was struck by lightning. But some are hinting at Wally West (Barry Allen’s nephew) as the focus of the Flash movie.
My preference for Barry Allen comes from the 1990’s TV series: Continue reading »
Plot:
“Ancient prophecy states that the world will end in 2012, could these storms, these tidal waves, these earthquakes signal the end? Could it be the final apocalypse that will wipe out Mankind from the surface of Earth?”
United in oblivion… That’s not a really enjoyable perspective… But at least the movie 2012 will be damn fun to watch! 2012 will hit theaters on November 13, 2009.
We already knew that Daft Punk were hired to score the movie Tron 2, aka Tron Legacy, and we’ve been hoping for a cameo. Well, good news, Actress Olivia Wilde let slip during an interview with that the French electronica duo will appear in the film: there will be a cameo of Daft Punk in Tron 2!
And it seems Disney is planning some special Tron 2 event for the next comic con, maybe the Daft Punk would go there to promote Tron legacy! Would be so awesome!

– Royce (Adrien Brody): main character, a Steve McQueen-type
– Cuchillo (Danny Trejo): a Mexican enforcer from a drug cartel who has twin uzi strapped to his back
– Nikolai (Oleg Taktarov): a frightening, Russian bear-of-a-man, armed with a four barrel, gas powered, rotary machine gun
– Isabelle (Alice Braga): a tough-as-nails woman armed with a sniper rifle and speaks French
– Stans (Walton Goggins): A prisoner with a shaved head, a scorpion tattoo on his neck and armed with a prison-made knife
– Mombassa (Mahershalalhashbaz Ali): An African member of the Sierra Leon death squad who’s not afraid to die
– Hanso (Louiz Ozawa): a bad-ass Japanese Yakuza enforcer
– Edwin (Topher Grace): a small unassuming man who is formerly one of FBI’s most wanted
Adrien Brody (The Pianist) is a surprising choice as the lead character of Predators. I suppose that this new Predator movie won’t be as manly as the first film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. But this ensemble cast is still quite appealing and they could deliver a great Predators movie. Let’s knock on wood for that!

We got our hand on a bundle of Astro Boy preview clips:
Plot:
“Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist in the image of the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving man’s expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City and reconcile with the father who had rejected him.”
Astro Boy may look like a small boy, but he’s the strongest robot ever created!
Plot:
“A splinter group of Roman soldiers fight for their lives behind enemy lines after their legion is decimated in a devastating guerrilla attack.”
Director Neil Marshall’s Centurion is gonna be a dark bloody movie judging from the pictures above! Fortunately, the pretty Olga Kurylenko will bring some sensitivity to the whole thing.
:)
Plot:
“A fairy tale centered on a young girl named Princess Tiana who lives in New Orleans’ French Quarter during the Jazz Age.”
Kids may enjoy the Princess and the Frog, but the way it looks, I think Disney is rather targeting grown-ups who are nostalgic of hand-drawn animation…

Take a look to the first official movie poster of Boondock Saints II:
(Click on the poster to enlarge it.)
Plot:
“The MacManus brothers are living a quiet life in Ireland with their father, but when they learn their beloved priest has been killed by mob forces, the duo return to Boston to bring justice to those responsible.”
Join the prayer before the MacManus brothers go on a retribution rampage in the movie Boondock Saints II All Saints Day!

Director Vincenzo Natali is bringing us Splice, an upcoming science fiction movie that dwells on the danger of genetic engineering, especially on the danger of splicing Human and animal DNA (in order to create a chimera). The film is starring Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley. The movie Splice should be released early next year.
Here below a first preview clip of Splice:
SPLICE
Plot:
“Elsa and Clive (Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley), two young rebellious scientists, defy legal and ethical boundaries and forge ahead with a dangerous experiment: splicing together human and animal DNA to create a new organism. Named Dren, the creature rapidly develops from a deformed female infant into a beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera, who forges a bond with both of her creators – only to have that bond turn deadly.”
Hard to believe that this little monstrous thing could develop in anything beautiful later on. But I can totally imagine it becoming some dangerous predator. I am no Luddite, and I do want scientists to be allowed to pursue R&D in genetic engineering (from stem cells to splicing or whatever may help to increase our knowledge). But on can’t deny that there is need for regulation: don’t want dangerous chimera to feed on you or don’t want any new vicious GM virus to infect you, do you? It’s even more compelling to implement a strong regulation and to get ethical awareness in the population because tabletop genetic engineering is for tomorrow…
Anyway, I don’t think the movie Splice to go deep int hose issues. But at least it looks like it will be quite entertaining. Impatient to see what the grown-up creature will look like in the movie Splice!
