Chris Columbus, the director behind the first two Harry Potter movies, is tackling the adaptation of Percy Jackson & The Olympians a series of novels written by Rick Riordan. Well, only the first book, The Lightning Thief, is being adapted for now, but if this first movie is a success, for sure sequels will follow. Here below the first official movie trailer of Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Lightning Thief:
Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief
President’s day 2010
Some heroes are made and some are born of the Gods!
Plot:
“A young boy named Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman) discovers that he is the half-human son of the Greek god, Poseidon (Kevin McKidd), and embarks on a journey across modern-day America to save his mother (Catherine Keener), return Zeus’ (Sean Bean) stolen lightning bolt, and prevent a war between the gods.”
I’m all for this kind of fantasy movie but I just hope that they won’t be greedy and will first put all their energy on the Lightning Thief. Narnia didn’t really survive the hype and the series is now in limbo. So I hope that Director Chris Colombus does focus on this movie to make it as great as this first teaser trailer is promising before thinking about any sequel.
The movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians The Lightning Thief is starring Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Abel, Pierce Brosnan (as Chiron), Catherine Keener and Uma Thurman (as Medusa). The film is set for a release on February 12, 2010.

Anne Hathaway was damn cute in the movie Get Smart, but now she looks kind of creepy as the White Queen in the upcoming Alice in Wonderland movie directed by Tim Burton:
The movie Despicable Me is an upcoming 3D animated film directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud. The movie can boast the voice of Steve Carrel in the role of Gru, the machiavellian villain who wants to steal the Moon:
Plot:
“In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru (Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon.
Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad.
Looks like the movie Despicable Me won’t be much politically correct. Well, no real ground to take offense. I think that such funny stereotypes, as long as there is a clever plot behind, are something useful in animation because they make the characters more vivid and it’s easier to understand their personalities. Regarding the CGI behind Despicable Me: it may not look like state of the art CGI, but I still like it. Actually I think that art, voices and stereotypes are a good match that promise a quite funny and entertaining animated movie for 2010.
I went on the official site of Despicable Me (which is of course hosted at Despicable.me here), don’t know who’s singing, bu can’t get the little song out of my head:
Despicable Me!
Sign me up for the 3D animated movie Despicable Me!

Ricky Gervais just invented the lie in his latest comedy comedy movie The Invention of Lying:

THE INVENTION OF LYING
In a world where everyone can only tellthe truth …he’s just inventedthe lie!
How can politicians gather a large base in a world where even they can’t lie? hmmm… Anyway, politicians didn’t wait for Ricky Gervais to bring the Invention of Lying….
;-P
Plot:
“The horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies…”
The movie Zombieland is starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. It is scheduled for a release on October 9, 2009.

The first time I saw the promotional Twilight New Moon picture of the Wolf Pack I suspected that some photoshop trick was the secret behind those young men’s muscles… Well I was wrong, just take a look to this new picture from the movie set of Twilight in Vancouvers:
The shirtless Alex Meraz looks like a powerful stallion. And we can guess that Chaske Spencer, who’s almost, is as fit as his fellow werewolf. Kristen Stewart who plays the role of Bella must enjoy her job: she’s herding handsome men in the movie Twilight 2 New Moon.
;-)
Cemetery Junction is an upcoming written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. The film started to film last month, it will be released in 2010. Below a very early teaser trailer of Cemetery Junction:
Update: Here’s the latest trailer of Cemetery Junction:
CEMETERY JUNCTION
Some people want success
Some people want a good time
And everyone wants a way out!
Previous Cemetery Junction trailer:
Plot:
“CEMETERY JUNCTION tells the funny, touching and universal story of being… it’s a 1970s-set comedy centered on three upstart professional men working at an insurance company.”
They’re quite mysterious about this project… Well, if Ralph Fiennes is in it, I suppose it means that Cemetery Junction will be a good movie.
:)
I feel kind of uneasy at watching those écorchés… Must be because of the contrast of the skin over the metalic skeleton…
Plot of Surrogates:
“In the year 2017 two FBI Agents (Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell) investigates the mysterious murder of a college student linked to the man who helped create a high-tech surrogate phenomenon that allows people to purchase unflawed robotic versions of themselves – fit, good looking remotely controlled machines that ultimately assume their life roles – enabling people to experience life vicariously from the comfort and safety of their own homes. ”
The movie Surrogates is directed by Jonathan Mostow and will hit theaters on September 25, 2009.

I definitely need the geek chair Bruce Willis is sitting in!

(Click on the poster to enlarge it.) THE BOOK OF ELI
The Book of Eli poster above was created for the Comic Con by by artist Chris Weston (he did the storyboard before). Below two earlier versions that haven’t been selected:
(Click on a poster to enlarge it.)
The Book of Eli is set in a post-apocalyptic world. Could be just a new Mad-Max-like movie, but I have hope that Denzel Washingtom will amaze us and bring something new to the genre.
:)
The two character posters featuring Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes look quite good. I wonder why we had to wait so long for such movie posters of GI Joe.

Sokka is a young warrior of the Southern Water Tribe (and actually the only one left in his village since all the men have been made prisoners by the Fire Nation). With his sister, Katara, he accompanies Aang on his quest to defeat the Fire Lord. The joker of the group, Sokka describes himself as “meat-loving” and “sarcastic”. Unlike his companions, Sokka is not gifted with the power of bending an element, but the series, though it often makes him the victim of comedy at his expense, frequently grants him opportunities to use his ingenuity and weapons, including his trusty boomerang and a sword he forged from a meteorite.
Sokka (Jackson Rathbone)
I like the character of Sokka: he’s the stupid idiot who manages to stay clever and still get the girls. I bet that Jackson Rathbone will perform well as Sokka in the upcoming Last Airbender movie.
