Director Jason Reitman (who brought us Juno) is coming back with the movie Up in the Air, an upcoming comedy starring George Clooney in the lead role. The film is based on the novel of the same name written by Walter Kirn. should be released end of 2009.

Plot:
“George Clooney plays Ryan Bingham, a 35 year old a career transition counselor at a Denver-based management consulting company, Integrated Strategic Management (ISM). Ryan travels around the country to terminate corporate employees. He does not have a personal life and he numbs himself with sex, booze and drugs. His life on the road comes to a halt when his company downsizes its travel budget. He is required to spend more time at home just as he is on the cusp of a goal he’s worked toward for years: reaching five million frequent flyer miles and just after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.”

One may think that such a dark comedy isn’t the best thing in a time of recession, but hey, it’s starring george Clooney so you bet the movie Up in the Air is gonna be fun to watch!

According to variety James Vanderbilt has been hired by Sony Pictures to pen the screenplay of Spiderman 5 and Spiderman 6!

But as far as I know the script for Spiderman 4 isn’t even ready yet… Or maybe they’ve got a first draft and are damn confident that it’s gonna be a hit? Nope, more probably, the just want to cash in on a successful franchise: Spiderman is like a goose laying golden eggs I guess.

Let’s hope they would film Spider-man 5 and Spider-Man 6 back-to-back so we wouldn’t have to wait too long between the two movies.

On August 21, the world will get its first look at director James Cameron’s motion picture epic AVATAR, when Twentieth Century Fox and Cameron debut the film’s trailer everywhere – while select cinemas and IMAX theaters will screen extended footage prepared by the renowned filmmaker for this global “Avatar Day” event.

The picture above has been released just to tease us for the event. Behind Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) we may see a vat containing his avatar: Jake Sully’s human body is stuck in a wheelchair, but his spirit will be somehow connected to the alien body in the vat before it is sent to the planet Pandora’s surface.

While trying to escape an imminent danger the team activates the ninth and final gate chevron (whose purpose was previously unknown) and get aboard the Destiny. But that’s a one-way trip, without return to Earth… Unable to return to Earth, they must fend for themselves aboard the ship as it takes them to the far reaches of the universe.”

This new Stargate TV series will a bit darker than what we may have been used to with the franchise. But don’t worry: it’s for the best! Because I’m definitely convinced now that this series is the sci-fi weekly fix that we’re all waiting for!
