The cast of Death Race 2 has been announced. The film is starring Luke Goss in the lead role as Frankenstein, Ving Rhames, Sean Bean, Danny Trejo, Frederick Koehler and Lauren Cohan. Director Roel Reine will helm the project based on a script by Tony Giglio. Death Race 2 will actually be a prequel to the Death Race movie starring Jason Statham.

Universal also gave away the synopsis of Death Race 2:

Plot:
“‘Death Race 2’ takes place in the very near future, as the United States economy begins to decline and violent crime starts to spiral out of control. To contain the growing criminal population, a vast network of for-profit, private prisons springs up, creating a lawless subculture ruled by gangs, cold-blooded killers and sociopaths. The worst of these prisons is Terminal Island.
Convicted cop-killer Carl Lucas (Luke Goss) arrives on the Island to serve his life sentence just as ruthlessly ambitious television personality September Jones launches the ultimate reality show, Death Race. A brutal prison yard demolition derby that pits prisoners against each other in steel reinforced, heavily armed vehicles, Death Race offers the winner the ultimate prize: freedom if he can survive to enjoy it. When Lucas signs up to be a driver, the stage is set for the birth of a legendary racer.”

Unfortunately Death Race 2 won’t have a theatrical release… It will be released directly to DVD, so I’m a bit worried regarding the quality of the movie because I guess the budget of Death Race 2 will be limited…

Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis team up for the upcoming thriller comedy Burke and Hare, a film directed by John Landis. The movie Burke and Hare is based on the true story of two Irish immigrants in the 19th century sold the corpses of their victims to provide material for dissection. Kristen Stewart, who plays the role of Bella in the Twilight Saga movie franchise, has been talking about Twilight Breaking Dawn, and she said she’d rather do two Breaking Dawn movies:

There is a movie sequel to Zoolander ahead of us. Justin Theroux would direct the movie and Ben Stiller would reprise his role as the crazy model Zoolander. Jonah Hill is said to be in talk to play the role of the villain.

From what Ben Stiller previously said we have the premise of the movie Zoolander 2:

Plot:
“Zoolander 2 will likely be set 10 years later with Derek Zoolander dealing with the fact that he is no longer a model, possibly spending his days running a modeling school and taking care of his now 10 or 11 years old son.”

No word yet if Owen Wilson will be back though…

A movie sequel to Unbreakable may happen! Well, at least Bruce Willis is interested in doing it:

“I talked to Shyamalan over the holidays, and he is still thinking about doing the fight movie between me and Sam that we were gonna do. We chose to do the origin [in the first movie]… As long as Sam can make it, I’m up for it.”

But Director Shyamalan is going to be quite busy working on The Last Airbender trilogy over the coming years, so I kind of doubt that the movie Unbreakable 2 will happen any soon, unless Shyamalan needs a break.

The Tourist is an upcoming thriller movie directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck and starring Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie and Paul Bettany. The film is actually the remake of the French movie ‘Anthony Zimmer’.

Actor Wesley Snipes has been talking about a Blade 4 movie:

“There has been some talk about a Blade 4. I would be interested if the script was right.”

But Wesley Snipes won’t necessarily have the lead role in Blade 4. I heard that Director Stephen Norrington and Scriptwriter David Goyer are rather thinking about doing a prequel that would focus on the character of Deacon Frost, who was played by Stephen Dorff in the first film, so Wesley Snipes’s role as the vampire hunter would be limited…

Well, time will tell! For now, Director Stephen Norrington is still busy with a remake of the Crow.

A movie sequel to SWAT has been announced by Columbia Pictures, it is titled “S.W.A.T.: Fire-Fight”. Director Benny Boom will helm the movie SWAT 2 based on a script by Reed Steiner. The cast hasn’t been revealed yet.

SWAT 2 FIRE FIGHTPlot:
“Transferred to Detroit to put a local SWAT team through a training regimen, LAPD Lieutenant Paul Cutler finds himself the target of a homicidal genius who is protected by government officials.”

Production of SWAT 2 is set to begin in April 2010.

There is some confusion about who’s going to be the main villain of the upcoming Green Lantern movie. There are two potential villains, both are mentioned in the cast list:
– Sinestro, a power-hungry Green Lantern who wants to overthrow the guardians
– Hector Hammond, a twisted human who’s been exposed to a meteor while Jordan Hal was getting his hand on his superhero ring.

If Hector Hammond is the main villain of the first film (same storyline as in Geoff Johns’ “Green Lantern: Secret Origin”), then you can bet there would be a Green Lantern movie sequel! While the first film would introduce the public to the Green Lantern and his universe, the movie Green lantern 2 would be a real showdown between the Green Lantern Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) and the Machiavellian Sinestro.

But that’s only speculation because so far plot details of the first film are still kept under wrap… And actually it could well be Sinestro in the first film and Hector Hammond in the movie Green Lantern 2.
