Red Skull as Captain America Villain

It’s been confirmed (understand “reliable hearsay”) that Red Skull will be the main villain in the upcoming Captain America movie directed by Joe Johnston.

Captain America Trailer

“Virtually the entire story except the bookends are in World War II because we all recognize we have one chance to tell the origin story of how he became Captain America, you can’t tell a modern story and then go back and tell the origin story. If you’re going to do it, let’s do it. Let’s do it first. Everyone wanted to tell an origin story. There was a version where it was a modern story and it didn’t work.”

Director Joe Johnston

So Red Skull, as Captain America’s greatest foe, is the right pick!

Judge Dredd New Movie

Judge DreddJohn Wagner, the creator of Judge Dredd, has been talking about the upcoming Judge Dredd movie:

“I have read the script (by Alex Garland) and seen Jock’s visual. While I can’t go into detail about the content I can say that it’s high-octane, edge of the seat stuff, and gives a far truer representation of Dredd than the first movie.”

Comics Writer John Wagner

The new Judge Dredd movie would be based on a screenplay from “28 Days Later” scribe Alex Garland with visuals provided by “The Losers” artist Jock.

I Frankenstein Movie

I frankenstein is an upcoming fantasy action movie directed by Patrick Tatopoulos based on a script by Kevin Grevioux (who brought us the Underworld movie series). The film is actually the movie adaptation of an upcoming graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux. It’s modern take on the tale of Frankenstein. No cast announced yet, but Lakeshore Entertainment announced that production would begin in July of 2010, so the film should be released sometime in 2011.

I Frankenstein Trailer

I Frankenstein Movie

Plot:
“I, FRANKENSTEIN is a contemporary fantasy thriller in which the original monster of Victor Frankenstein stands between the human race and an uprising of supernatural creatures determined to overthrow the world.”

It kind of sounds like Hellboy, but knowing that Kevin Grevioux is behind the script, I bet the movie I Frankenstein is going to be a lot darker!

Avatar 2 Plot Details

Avatar 2 - Avatar SequelPlot details of Avatar are emerging online. According to MarketSaw Avatar 2 is set to take off from Pandora, not clear yet as to where Cameron is planning to take the action, but most probably in space or on one of those other planets around Polyphemus. And the sequel will be even more action-packed than the first film: they’re talking about full-blown war! Yeah, the human military is going to show up and Mankind will dominate those stingy aliens!

Still no official release date for Avatar 2 though: James Cameron may work on an other movie before continuing the Avatar franchise. But there is a strong rumor about Cameron’s team already preparing things for Avatar 2…

Cowboys and Aliens Trailer

Plot of Cowboys and Alliens:
“In Silver City, Arizona, Apache Indians and Western settlers must lay their differences aside when an alien spaceship crash lands in their city and a new enemy emerges, equipped with superior technology.”

Not much excited by the premise of the movie, but I’m willing to give it a try because Jon Favreau is directing the movie.

Anyway let’s wait to see how the movie Cowboys and Aliens is going to turn out.

Plot:
“The film centers on Milo, a bounty hunter (Gerard Butler) hired to retrieve his ex-wife Cassidy Daley (Jennifer Aniston), who has skipped bail.”

Gerard Butler is one of those rare actors who do great both in action movie and comedy movies. But it won’t be the main reason for me to go watch the Bounty Hunter movie: I’ll actually go for the beautiful Jennifer Aniston!

Captain America Movie Update

CaptainDirector Joe Johnston gave an a short update regarding the upcoming Captain America movie:

Captain America Movie Trailer

“We’re in prep. Rick Heinrichs is production-designing and we’re set up down in Manhattan Beach [California]. It’s the part of the process that I love the most, we have eight or ten really talented artists, and we all just sit around all day and draw pictures and say, ‘Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if we could do this?’ It’s that phase of the production where money doesn’t matter: ‘Let’s put all the greatest stuff up on the wall and see what we can afford.’
The stuff in the ’60s and ’70s comic books we’re sort of avoiding. We’re going back to the ’40s, and then forward to what they’re doing with Captain America now.”

Director Joe Johnston

Director Joe Johnston should fast-track this Captain America movie so we can move to the Avengers movie. Because with global warming under way Captain America can’t remain frozen in the ice forever (Captain America at some point get indeed stuck in the ice and spends decades frozen in a block of ice in a state of suspended animation, until the Avengers manage to locate and save him.):

If nobody comes to unfroze him asap for the Avengers movie, it’s gonna be really hard to bring Captain America back to life (picture courtesy That’s My Skull)!

Thor Film

Thor FilmSome have been wondering how the movie Thor, a Norse God superhero, would fit in Iron Man’s rational world. Well Kevin Feige does not ignore those concerns:

Thor Movie Trailer

“We’re doing the Jack Kirby/Stan Lee/Walt Simonson/J. Michael Straczynski ‘Thor.’ We’re not doing the blow-the-dust-off-of-the-old-Norse-book-in-your-library ‘Thor.’ And in the ‘Thor’ of the Marvel Universe, there’s a race called the Asgardians. And we’re linked through this Tree of Life that we’re unaware of. It’s real science, but we don’t know about it yet. The ‘Thor’ movie is about teaching people that.”

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige

Whatever he says, and if the final Thor movie is marvelous, I really doubt it’s gonna be “real” science.

The film Thor is directed by : Kenneth Branagh and is starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, and Jaimie Alexander as Sif. The release date of Thor is set for May 6, 2011.
