Death Race 2 Movie

Death Race 2 MovieA new Death Race movie is in development. But Death Race 2 isn’t a sequel to the film starring Jason Statham, it’s actually a movie prequel to Death Race! The film, titled Death Race Frankenstein Lives, is based on a script written by Tony Giglio. It seems director Paul W.S. Anderson won’t be returning to helm the film, but he is still on board as producer.

DEATH RACE 2

Thanks to a casting call sheet we have more details about Death Race 2, aka Death Race Frankenstein Lives:

Plot:
“Newly arrived at Terminal Island, a prison for the most nonredeemable of convicts, CARL ‘LUKE’ LUCAS must prove his mettle in a race to the death…”

[CARL “LUKE” LUCAS]
In his 20s-30, handsome and confident, with a hint of danger, Lucas has been in trouble since the age of 12. Right-hand man to a notorious mobster for twelve years, he is sent away for life
after killing a cop in the course of robbing a bank. Offered a deal by the DA if he turns state’s evidence, Lucas opts to take his chances behind bars, where he soon captures the attention of a violence-peddling television producer. Possessed of some serious driving skills, assertive, strong, and charismatic, Lucas is a natural fit for the ultimate test, aka, the “Death Race.”..

[SEPTEMBER JONES]
In her 20s – early 30s, a model turned journalist, September is is “insatiably ambitious and eye-poppingly gorgeous,” a woman who knows how to use what she’s got to get what she wants. She’s callous and self-serving, dressed provocatively, with the soul of an ice-pick, but the brains to know how to market violence to the masses. When ratings for her gladiator-style television show begin plummeting, September is quick to come up with the “Death Race” concept, thrilled by its stunning success.

[ELIZABETH JAYNE CASE]
In her 20s – early 30s, and sexy, she is a card girl for the fight matches, later a navigator when the prisoners are forced to test their driving skills. Intelligent (valedictorian of her high school class), decent, with a good heart, Case landed in prison after killing her abusive cop husband. Quick to come to the aide of girl in peril or help Lucas outwit an adversary, she’s a courageous, admirable young woman. Teamed with Lucas for a death race, the chemistry soon heats up between the two…

[DOUGLAS WEYLAND]
In his 30s – 60, bold, opulent and self-indulgent, the CEO and Founder of the Weyland Corporation, he is a opportunist at best, a man who makes millions on the backs of others. Clearly not immune to September’s come-hither charm, he agrees to produce a televised gladiator-style series of fighting matches, later disappointed by the ratings. However, he’s quite impressed when September’s idea for a race to the death has the viewers tuning in again…

Filming of the movie Death Race 2, aka Death Race Frankenstein Lives, is scheduled to start end of February 2010.

Because it’s a prequel, Jason Statham is unlikely to be involved in this new Death Race movie… So I’m not that much impatient to watch Death Race Frankenstein Lives…

Breaking Dawn The Movie by a Twilight fan

Breaking Dawn The Movie - The Twilight Saga~Kir$ie~, a really passionate twilight fan, left a very long comment on a post about Twilight Breaking Dawn. It’s a bit long for the comment section, but we guess that quite a few Twilight fans would like to discuss wiht her about it. So here’s how she’d like Breaking Dawn, the fourth installment of the Twilight saga to be done: Continue reading »

Area 51 Movie

Director Oren Peli, who brought us Paranormal Activity, is working on Area 51, an upcoming sci-fi horror movie that should take the best things that made Paranormal Activity a success and transpose them into the mysterious military base…

Plot:
“A group of teenagers stumble upon an area in the Nevada desert known for hosting an alien encounter.”

Two UFO nerds would manage to get inside Area 51 thanks to an insider and they would then get spooked (to death?) by a close encounter of the fourth kind (yep a real alien would somehow torment them)!

Like in Paranormal Activity, Area 51 is starring relatively unknown actors: Reid Warner, Darrin Bragg and Ben Rovner. And the whole thing would be filmed like a documentary. So another low budget movie that could potentially be a new blockbuster. We’ll keep the movie Area 51 on our watch list! The film should be released in 2010.

The American Movie

The American is an upcoming thriller movie directed by Anton Corbijn and starring George Clooney, Thekla Reuten, Bruce Altman and Violante Placido. Here below a first look at George Clooney in the American movie:

THE AMERICAN

George Clooney - The American

Plot:
“Jack (George Clooney) is an artful assassin with a lengthy track record, constantly on the move and always watching his back. When an assignment goes wrong and a lover ends up dead, he vows that the next job will be his last.
This final obligation takes him to a picturesque town nestled amongst lush Italian hills, its historical piazzas bursting with life. But to Jack, every location is a trap and every person a potential threat. Still, he surprises himself, enjoying confessional conversations over Armagnac with an insightful priest and slipping into an affair with a local beauty. But by letting his guard down, Jack may be tempting fate.
A dangerous shadow-dweller shows every sign of closing in, and the mysterious woman who has hired him may not be all that she seems. As an increasingly wary Jack contemplates life, love and death in Italy, the film escalates into a climactic showdown through the cobbled maze of age-old alleyways. This sexy, suspenseful and intricate story blends intrigue and passionate romance within a searing morality tale to finally reveal the heart of this deeply private man.”

I guess George Clooney isn’t a psychic soldier after all (see Men Who Stare at Goats)… He can’t really kill neither goats nor people just by staring at them, he still needs a gun to get the job done!

The American movie will be released in 2010.

Nicolas Cage - The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Nicolas Cage may look good in his outfit, but not as good as Monica Bellucci who plays the role of a witch in the movie:

Monica Bellucci - The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Plot of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice:
“A sorcerer (Nicolas Cage) recruits and trains a young protege (Jay Baruchel) to help him fight the forces of darkness in modern-day Manhattan.”

When Jon Tuteltaub and Nicolas Cage team up on a movie like the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, it’s probably going to be a blockbuster!

Micronauts Movie

Micronauts Live action MovieAccording to The Wall Street Journal a Micronauts movie could be produced by JJ Abrams, the man who successfully rebooted Star Trek! The Micronauts is the North American name for the Microman toy line created by Japanese toy company Takara (the rights now belong to Hasbro). A comic book based on the toy line was also published by Marvel.

Here’s the original mythology of the Micronauts:

“The Micronauts originate in the Microverse, a microscopic series of diverse habitats that are linked together in the fashion of molecule chains. The original team comes together in response to the threat posed by former academic and now murderous dictator, Baron Karza. Commander Arcturus Rann (returning from a thousand-year deep space voyage in suspended animation) and Biotron, his robot co-pilot, return on the HMS (Homeworld Micro Ship) ‘Endeavor’, to discover Karza has slain the royal family, who are in fact Rann’s parents. What follows is an epic war across the Microverse: Rann and his allies against Karza.
At one point the team is somehow trapped for a time on Earth (where they are the size of toys) before retuning to the Microverse.”

And here’s a clip that shows off the Micronauts toy line:

I suppose that if the Micronauts movie really goes under development, they will focus on the part with the Micronauts trapped on Earth. I’m not sure this movie will be as exciting as Transformers though… Micro robots aren’t as impressive as giants robots… But with JJ Abrams producing the Micronauts movie we may expect to be positively surprised!

Jurassic Park 4 Movie

Jurassic Park IV movieA fourth Jurassic Park movie could be ahead of us. Director Joe Johnston has been talking indeed about the possibility of a Jurassic Park 4. Here’s what he said:

Joe Johnston talks about Jurassic Park 4

“There is a great story for the fourth one that I would be interested in getting involved with and it’s nothing like the first three,” Johnston told the site, “It sort of takes the franchise off in a completely different direction, which is the only way I would want to get involved.
[..]
Why would anybody go back to that island? It was hard enough to figure out the second and third reason for them to go, but it would take it off in a whole other trilogy basically, but when it gets to that level it’s sort of about studios and Steven Spielberg’s thing and who knows. I think we are at that point where we are due for another one if we are going to do it.”

Director Joe Johnston

What do you think could be the plot of Jurassic Park 4? Nasty intelligent mini-dinosaurs that would try to become our new overlords? Any guess?

30 Days of Night 2 Movie

A movie sequel to 30 Days of Night 2 is being filmed! 30 Days of Night 2, aka 30 Days of Night Dark Days, is directed by Ben Ketai and based on a script co-written by Steve Niles and Ben Ketai. Melissa George isn’t reprising her role as Stella Olesonthe, she’s replaced by Kiele Sanchez. Are also starring: Rhys Coiro, Mia Kirshner, Harold Perrineau, Diora Baird, Rhys Coiro, Monique Ganderton, Marco Sorian, and Katherine Isabelle. The movie 30 Days of Night 2 will be released in 2010.

Here below a first look at Kiele Sanchez as Stella Olesonthe in 30 Days of Night 2, aka 30 Days of Night Dark Days:

30 Days of Night 2 - 30 Days of Night Movie Sequel

Plot:
“It’s been a year since the Alaskan town of Barrow’s population was decimated by vampires during its annual month long sunset. Riddled with grief over the death of her husband, bound by nightmares and void of all emotions beyond hate and sorrow, Stella (Sanchez) has spent the past months traveling the world, trying to convince others that vampires exist. Met with skepticism and laughter, Stella is ready to throw in the towel when a group of lost souls (Coiro, Baird and Perrineau) offers an incredible opportunity: the chance to exact revenge upon Lilith (Kirshner), the vampire queen responsible for the assault on her sleepy Alaskan town. With nothing remaining to live for, and nothing left to fear, Stella joins their mission and ventures into the uncharted underbelly of Los Angeles where she pushes herself to the most extreme limits to stop the evil from striking again.”

A bit sad that David Slade (who’s busy with Eclipse) is not helming this 30 Days of Night sequel. But the scriptwriters are the same, so we may hope that 30 Days of Night 2 will be faithful to the spirit of the first movie.

Here’s the movie trailer of the first 30 Days of Night movie: Continue reading »

Russell Crowe Robin Hood

You probably know that Director Ridley Scott has hired Russell Crowe for the lead role in his upcoming take on Robin Hood. Well, here’s a new picture of Russell Crowe as Robin Hood:

I wonder who would be the winner in a match opposing Robin Hood to William Tell, any guess?

Google Wallace and Gromit

Google is celebrating Wallace and Gromit’s 20th birthday, here’s the new doodle for the event:

Wallace and Gromit are the main characters in a series consisting of four British animated short films and a feature-length film by Nick Park of Aardman Animations. All the characters were made from moulded plasticine modelling clay on metal armatures, and filmed with stop motion clay animation.

Here below the trailer of the Wallace and Gromit movie that was released a few years ago:

In case you’re wondering: Gromit is the dog.

The Resident Movie

The Resident is an upcoming thriller drama movie written and directed by Antti Jokinen and starring Hilary Swank, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Christopher Lee. The movie will be released in 2010.
Here’s a first glimpse at The Resident:

(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)

Plot:
“Every year, three million single women in America move into an apartment for the first time. They do not know who lived in the apartment before them, they do not know their landlords, and they don’t bother to change the locks. This is the story of one such woman…
After separating from her husband, pretty young doctor Juliet Dermer (Hilary Swank) moves to Brooklyn, settling into a new life in a stunning and spacious loft apartment that seems too good to be true.
It is…
Mysterious occurrences lead her to suspect that she is not alone in her home and quickly her fears become all too real. In a chilling revelation, she discovers that her seemingly charming, young landlord, Max (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), has developed a dangerous obsession with her. A terrifying game of cat and mouse ensues as Juliet fights to free herself from Max’s sinister intentions.”

The plot of The Resident could be based on a true story: the world is full of freaks! Just a few months ago, I heard about a landlord who rigged a hidden camera in the bedroom of a teenage tenant… But it’s even worse in the movie because the landlord dares to enter in the house! Creepy! Such stories can but convince people to support the NRA!

Zoe Saldana as Aisha in The Losers

Here’s a first look at Zoe Saldana as Aisha on the set of The Losers, the upcoming action movie directed by Sylvain White and based on the DC comic book of the same name:

(Click on the picture to enlarge it.)

Aisha is described as the loose cannon among the Losers. She is identified by her eyebrow piercing and tied-back hair. She may look cute but she’s no little girl: she’s a walking weapon, expert in all combat skills, and she prefers to leave corpses rather than survivors when she engages the enemy!

Sounds like there is going to be some real action for Zoe Saldana in the Losers movie!
