Solomon Kane Movie

James Purefoy as Solomon KaneActor James Purefoy got the lead role in Solomon Kane, an upcoming adventure fantasy movie based on the character of the same name created by Robert Howard. stars in the title role. The character Solomon Kane is described as a somber-looking man who wanders the world with no apparent goal other than to vanquish evil in all its forms. The movie is directed by Michael J. Bassett and is set for a release on October 28 in France, but no official release date announced yet for the USA.

Here below two movie posters of Solomon Kane:

Plot:
“The movie tells the origins of Solomon Kane and is hoped to be the first of a trilogy of movies. When the story opens Kane is a mercenary of Queen Elizabeth I fighting in Africa, but after an encounter with a demon, The Reaper, he realizes he must seek redemption or have his soul damned to Hell. He returns to England and lives a life of peace, converting to puritanism, but soon the doings of an evil sorcerer upset his plans and he must take up arms again.”

Solomon Kane makes me think of a puritan version of Kwai Chang Kane set in the 16th century… And maybe because of his dark clothes I can but draw a comparison with Van Helsing… Well I don’t expect anything really new from this Solomon Kane movie…
;-P

Volturi Twilight New Moon

At long last but not least we may have a first look at the whole Volturi cast from Twilight New Moon, aka Twilight 2:

New Moon Volturi

New Moon Volturi
The Volturi:
– British actor Michael Sheen as Aro, the most powerful Volturi leader
– Christopher Heyerdahl as Marcus, a Volturi leader
– Jamie Campbell-Bower as Caius, a Volturi leader
– Dakota Fanning as Jane, a nasty Volturi Guard
– Cameron Bright as Alec, a Volturi Guard who is Jane’s twin brother

In the universe of Twilight, the Volturi are like law enforcers among the Vampires: they are much respected, and even feared because of their mind control tricks

Jamie Campbell-Bower as Caius Cameron Bright as Alec

Charlie Bewley as Demetri the volturi guardDakota Fanning is Jane in Twilight 2 New Moon

Some may have been worried when learning that Dakota Fanning would play Jane, but I think there is reason to be optimistic and that she will be true to the role she got: just look at her as Jane! She’s almost like a real vampire. Actually all members of the Volturi look great. There is no denying that Director Chris Weitz is bringing the Twilight movie series to a higher level: Twilight New Moon is no movie for kiddies.

An Nightmare on Elm Street Movie

Plot:
“A group of suburban teenagers are being haunted in their dreams by a ‘horribly disfigured killer’ known as Freddy Krueger.”

I’m not much afraid of Freddy Krueger: my dreamcatcher would keep him away from my sweet dreams.

I really like the clean concept behind this poster: Disney should buy the right of this poster and publish it as a tease rposter of Tron Legacy. What do you think?

Hmmm, at watching this clip of GI Joe, I want to go to some fitness club, not really for exercise, just to observe the gorgeous effect of Earth’s gravity.

Gamer Movie Poster

Take a look to those international posters of Gamer, upcoming sci-fi action movie starring Gerard Butler:

Gamer Movie Trailer

(Click on a poster to enlarge it.)

Some play to survive… Others live to play…

Cable, the unwilling warrior pawn played by Gerard Butler, has a beautiful girlfriend who kind of reminds Mila Jovovich in the Fifth Element.

Looks like the movie will be titled Ultimate Game in France. Makes me think that Lionsgate should have kept the former title which was Citizen Game. Well, Gamer isn’t bad but not as good as Citizen Game…
:)

Thor Movie with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston

Actor Chris Hemsworth, who played James T. Kirk’s father in the last Star Trek movie, the one who sacrifice himself to save his familly, has been casted as the mighty Thor in the upcoming Thor movie which is set for a release in May 2011. We also know that Tom Hiddleston is going to play the role of Loki, Thor’s brother and nemesis:

Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston as Loki

Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

Those two actors are not really well known. That’s maybe why Director Kenneth Branagh chose them: he prefers to avoid the movie to be get over hyped because of famous names: doing so, the public will judge the movie for what it is and according to what they were expecting.

From what I heard the movie Thor won’t get lost in supernatural Asgard in order to fit in the current mold of realism set by earlier movies based on Marvel’s characters.

The Collector Red Band Trailer

The Collector MovieYou may watch below a red band trailer (it’s even called the blood band trailer on the official site) of of the Collector, an upcoming horror movie directed by Marcus Dunstan who is one of the screenwriter of the Saw movie series (kid, should first ask mummy if you can watch the clip!):

Well for once the red-band is well deserved! Not because of the glimpse of tits at the beginning but because of the bloody disgusting end of the Collector trailer…

Byun Hun Lee Storm Shadow

Byun Hun Lee Storm Shadow - GI Joe Movie

He’s too handsome to play a villain, and from what I saw in the previous preview clip of GI Joe, he cant’ be compared to Ray Park who’s playing Snake Eyes, Byun Hun Lee isn’t badass enough…
;-P

Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern

Ryan Reynolds, who’s already playing the role of Marvel’s Deapool, has been selected by Warner Bros to play as DC Comic’s Green Lantern in the upcoming movie dedicated to the green-ring hero. The news came as a surprise to all. But well, Ryan Reynolds is a good actor, and most agree that he’s a quite good choice.

Update: here’s the first official picture of Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern:

Here’s an earlier fan-art rendition of Ryan Reynolds in the Green Lantern’s outfit:

Green Lantern Movie with Ryan Reynolds

Fan-made picture of Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern
(Created by JoshMC)

This announcement of the lead actor indicates that the story of this Green Lantern movie will revolve around Hal Jordan, the original Caucasian Green Lantern. So we are likely to see the battle between Legion and Abin Sur, Abin Sur’s crash landing on Earth, as well as the choosing of Hal Jordan.

I wonder if Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern is going to recite the oath with pride or with a deadpoolesque tongue in cheek:

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil’s might,
Beware my power… Green Lantern’s light!

Hal Jordan/All Current Lanterns

Anyway Director Martin Campbell will have a significant budget ($150 million) to blow us away with the the movie Green Lantern, so let’s hope it will be awesome.

David Hackl Saw VII Movie

Saw VIIt’s been announced, via Variety, that Director David Hackl (who started off as a production designer for Saw 2, Saw 3 and Saw 4, before directing Saw 5) will return for Saw 7.

Saw 7 David Hackl

David Hackl Saw VII MovieNot real clue why Lionsgate isn’t keeping Kevin Greutert (who’s directing Saw 6). But David Hackl did bring us a hit with Saw 5. So I won’t comlain about him coming back to helm the movie Saw 7.

By the way, Saw VII will start production in January 2010 for a release in October 2010.
