Director Peter Jackson is bringing The Lovely Bones, the movie adaptation of the novel of the same name by Alice Sebold. The film is starring Saoirse Ronan, Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci. It is scheduled for a release on December 11, 2009.

Plot:
“In 1973, Susie Salmon (Ronan) is raped and murdered by a neighbor, George Harvey (Tucci), a serial killer of young girls and women. She finds herself in Heaven, observing her family as they grieve for her. She also watches her killer who, having covered his tracks successfully, is preparing to murder again. Susie struggles to balance her desire for vengeance on Harvey and her desire to have her family recover from their loss.”

I’ve heard of Alice Sebol’s novel before, but wasn’t interested in reading it till now. This movie trailer of The Lovely Bones is definitely fantastic, visuals, acting and story are so great! I’m looking forward to the Lovely Bones movie!

I have mixed feelings about this film: it doesn’t look bad, but I find hard to get really hooked by the whole thing… Right now, I wouldn’t spend a buck on this film… Well, let’s wait for a Solomon Kane trailer of better quality before deciding. High definition could spark some interest.

Two new pictures of Shutter Island, an upcoming thriller movie directed by Martin Scosese starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Rufallo:

They did put some effort into recreating the atmosphere of a mental institute from the 1950s: look at the nurses’ uniforms, the old-style cans in the background or even those old fashion stools and tables. Such small details have their importance. So far, Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island looks quite good!

The Horse Boy is a movie about a very touching and inspiring story. The documentary follows a family’s struggle to improve their autistic son’s life.
