The children’s book Cloudy With A Chance written and colored by Judi Barrett and drawn Ron Barrett has been adapted into a 3D CGI movie under the direction of Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
Here below the first Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs movie poster:
I know Astro Boy is not a dark hero, but he is a bit too starry eyed for me… Maybe one should send him t get trained with the Cylon Calvin from Battlestar Galactica.
:)
Angels and demons is the movie sequel to the DaVinci Code (yep, they transformed the book prequel into a movie sequel…). Below two new international posters of Angels and Demons:
Plot:
“Robert Langdon is summoned by CERN (a European science Institute based in Geneva, Swiss) to investigate a murder victim, branded with the Illuminati ambigram, leading him to discover the cult’s scheme to murder four cardinals and destroy St. Peter’s Basilica during a papal conclave using antimatter.”
Those two posters of Angels and Demons are full of mystery: they look damn great!
Angels and Demons will hit theaters on May 15, 2009.

They Came From Upstairs is an upcoming sci-fi Summer 2009 movie that kids will enjoy. It’s about a bunch of young teens who are facing an alien invasion that come from upstairs! Yep, the aliens aren’t Klingons but Zirkonians, they get to Earth through the house attic! Let’s learn more about those Zirkonians:
Sparks: 204 years old (Earth age equivalent: 21), Geeky, tech savvy Sparks is the kindest, and the most excitable, member of the group.
Skip: 478 years old (Earth age equivalent: 48), Skip may not be large but he’s certainly in charge – even when things don’t go his way.
Assassin: 238 years old (Earth age equivalent: 24), is the muscle in the alien team, but he leaves the brainy work to the others.
Razor: 218 years old (Earth age equivalent: 23), she is a one-woman powerhouse, brains and brawn all in one feisty package.
Mankind is no species to give up easily, against the machines or against the aliens: we fight back! Even our kids are ready!

The release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince gets closer every day, but the wait does no get easier! It’s even less easier when WB is teasing us with some great new Harry Potter 6 material, just take a look to those great HBP character posters:
Plot:
“Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching.”
The dark events ahead explain the resolute determination shown by the characters of the movie Harry Potter 6 on the posters above.

Directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who brought us the Crank movie series, have been working on Gamer, a new science fiction action thriller movie. The movie Gamer totally redefines what game immersion means: in the future virtual and reality are intricately mixed! Besides Gerard Butler in the lead role, the film is starring Logan Lerman, Milo Ventimiglia, Aaron Yoo, Ludacris, Alison Lohman and John Leguizamo.
Here below a bootleg version of the first movie trailer of Gamer that leaked online:
Plot:
“Set in the near-future, mind-control technology has taken society by storm and a multiplayer on-line game called ‘Slayers’ allows humans control other humans in mass-scale. Simon controls Kable (Gerard Butler) the on-line champion of the game, and with his every move tracked by millions, his ultimate challenge becomes regaining his identity and independence by defeating the game’s mastermind (Hall) through launching an attack on the system that has imprisoned him.”
The plot of this movie isn’t so farfetched. And actually it’s nothing new. Army commanders used to place tin soldiers (or just pictorial representations) on battlefield maps: the real soldiers are bound to their tin figures by the constraint of hierarchy. In the movie Gamer, the new constraint is “just” an appalling technological gizmo.

Imagi has been working hard to release the movie Astro Boy this year. Here below a new Astroboy movie poster:
(Click on the poster to enlarge it.) The movie Astro Boy is now scheduled to be released on October 23, 2009. We wil be able to enjoy Astro Boy in gorgeous 3D.

Director Lasse Hallstrom is bringing us Hachiko A Dog Story, an upcoming drama family movie based on the true story of a Japanese professor and his dog: it’s the tale of a dog’s life-long devotion to his owner. The film is starring Richard Gere in the lead role. It is scheduled to be released on August 8, 2009 in Japan (under the working title Hachi), so Hachiko A Dog’s Story should be released by the end of 2009 or early 2010 in the USA.
Plot:
“A college professor (Richard Gere) takes in an abandoned dog, Hachi, and they form an unbreakable bond. After the professor dies while away from home, the dog keeps vigil waiting for his master for nearly a decade.”
The story of Hachiko is well known in Japan: the dog even has his own statue in front of the Shibuya train station! So Richard Gere’s Hashiko is much awaited over there.
If you’re wondering about the dog race, er, I mean the dog breed, it’s an akita.
Such a cute and such a sad Story: I’m gonna cry shamelessly!
:)
The Gatchaman movie that was once scheduled to be released in 2009 has been postponed to 2010 due to some financial woes that slow down Imagi. But at least it hasn’t been canceled so far. Proof is this new poster of the movie Gatchman:
(Click on the poster to enlarge it.)
Looks like the guys at Imagi know what they’re doing: this Gatchman looks damn appealing! For once there could be a movie studio that betters the original source material instead of spitting on it like FOx did with its DB movie!
Some kids who helped for some charity have been repaid for their kindness by a visit to the movie set of Harry Potter 7, aka Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. They were able to meet Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (as Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley)!

And it’s been announced that the premiere of this new Star trek movie will be in Australia, in Sydney Opera House’s legendary Concert Hall on April 7. Director/producer J.J. Abrams and cast members Eric Bana, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Karl Urban will present the film to 1,600 lucky guests.
I wish I ‘d be among those lucky bastards… Even if to do so I’d have to confront Australian customs services once again , and God knows they are the worst nitpicky people on Earth! Anyway, too bad i’m not invited to the premiere of Star Trek.
