Jason Statham and Amy Smart are both reprising their roles in this sequel to Crank with Jason Statham as Chev Chelios and Amy Smart as his wife Eve: and yep, in Crank 2, they’re going to do it again on screen. So can be sure it will be rated R.
;-P
The Wachowski brothers must appreciate South Korean pop star Rain, because after enrolling him as Taejo in Speed Racer, they’re now giving a real lead role to the Asian actor in a movie they’re co-producing with Joel Silver. Rain is indeed the lead cast of Ninja Assassin, an upcoming action movie packed with martial arts!
Rain is working damn hard to fit into his Ninja outfit, watch Rain in this training session for Ninja Assassin (it’s a fight choreography with the 87 Eleven crew, a team of expert stuntmen):

Director James McTeigue is at the helm of Ninja Assassin. And besides Rain, the film is staring the pretty Naomie Harris and Rick Yune. The movie could be released during the first half of 2009.
It’s a real metamorphosis for Rain following his hard work and thanks to some make-up, he deserves to be the hero of Ninja Assassin:

Plot: “Raizo (Rain) is one of the world’s deadliest assassins, having been kidnapped as a child and raised by the Ozunu Clan, believed by the world to be a myth. When Raizo’s friend is executed by the clan, Raizo flees into hiding. He later reemerges, seeking revenge. Meanwhile, Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris) is a Europol agent who investigates money linked to political murders and finds that it is linked to the Ozunu Clan. She defies her superior, Ryan Maslow (Ben Miles), and retrieves secret agency files to find out more. The clan, finding out about the investigation, attempts to assassinate her, but she is rescued by Raizo. Hiding in Europe, Raizo and Mika must find a way to take down the Ozunu Clan.” (Source: Wikipedia)
We may expect Ninja Assassin to be an amazing action movie with gorgeous fights! Rain rules!

Thanks to IMDb, we’ve got a better synopsis of the movie Moon, upcoming sci-fi movie starring directed by Duncan Jones (David Bowie’s son) and starring Sam Rockwell:
Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is nearing the end of his contract with Lunar. He’s been a faithful employee for 3 long years. His home has been Sarang, a moon base where he has spent his days alone, mining Helium 3. The precious gas holds the key to reversing the Earth’s energy crisis.
Isolated, determined and steadfast, Sam has followed the rulebook obediently and his time on the moon has been enlightening, but uneventful. The solitude has given him time to reflect on the mistakes of his past and work on his raging temper. He does his job mechanically, and spends most of his available time dreaming of his imminent return to Earth, to his wife, young daughter and an early retirement.
But 2 weeks shy of his departure from Sarang, Sam starts seeing things, hearing things and feeling strange. And when a routine extraction goes horribly wrong, he discovers that Lunar have their own plans for replacing him and the new recruit is eerily familiar.
Before he can return to Earth, Sam has to confront himself and the discovery that the life he has created, may not be his own. It’s more than his contract that is set to expire.
IMDb
I don’t think that Moon will be a sci-fi movie abusing of CGI effects and other artificial twist: judging from the synopsis and the pictures released so far it looks like an old school sci-fi movie. It will be refreshing to have a real sci-fi plot for once!

Roland Emmerich is a man definitely fascinated by the Biblical flood. He’s making again a movie with a giant flood: it’s titled 2012. The movie is starring John Cusack and we have below a first look at him in the film:
John Cusack plays the role Jackson Curtis, a divorced writer who occasionally works as a limousine driver: will he be able to save his kids from Emmerich’s flood? Hope so!

The first official trailer of Transformers 2 was said to be released in February. And we thought that the recent teaser poster of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen was a good sign. Looks like the gods of Hollywood and Director Michael Bay won’t disappoint us: it is now confirmed that a Transformers 2 trailer will be released for the Superbowl 2009.
Have you been disappointed to learn that Selene (Kate Beckinsale) wouldn’t be in Underworld 3? Then be glad that Director Patrick Tatopoulos is trying to make amend by adding some yet unseen footage featuring Selene to the final cut of Underworld Rise of the Lycans.
“[…] director Patrick Tatopoulos previewed a number of scenes from his upcoming Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. While there, we got to talking with one crew member who revealed the threequel will open and close with Selene (as played by Kate Beckinsale). When asked if it was new footage, we were told it was a scene from Len Wiseman’s 2003 Underworld that will be used to bookend the film. So this next installment will not be Beckinsale-less after all. Stay tuned for more on our visit to Luma in the coming days!”
They’re not putting that much effort (and probably minimum cash) in making the posters of Underworld 3… This last quad poster looks cheap. Underworld 3 deserves something better! Come on!

Director Michael Bay is really trying to keep the lid on anything related to the plot of Transformers 2: what’s been released so far hardly give any hint at what’s going on.
Even this teaser poster for the sequel of Transformers 2 does not tell that much… But I’m glad they’re releasing it because it’s a good sign somewhat confirming that the trailer of Transformers 2 will be released in February!

The Hurt Locker is an upcoming award winning war movie directed by Kathryn Bigelow. The story is based on recently declassified information about an elite Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team in present day Iraq. It also incorporates observations from journalist/screenwriter Mark Boal, who was embedded with troops. The film was filmed in Jordan, so you feel like it was done in the heat of Irak.
The Hurt Locker is starring Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Guy Pearce and Ralph Fiennes. Summit Entertainment should release the Hurt Locker movie in Spring of 2009.
Here below the first movie trailer of the Hurt Locker:
THE HURT LOCKER
From the director of Point Break
Plot:
“In Iraq, an elite Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit is forced to play a dangerous game of cat and mouse in the chaos of war in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb. Staff Sergeant William James (Jeremy Renner), the leader of the EOD team, has to deal not only with defusing bombs in the backdrop of a war but also with the psychological and emotional strain that it inflicts.”
Cast:
– Jeremy Renner as Staff Sergeant William James
– Anthony Mackie as Sergeant JT Sanborn
– Brian Geraghty as Specialist Owen Eldridge
– Guy Pearce as Sergeant Matt Thompson
– Ralph Fiennes as Contractor Team Leader
– David Morse as Colonel Reed
It looks like an awesome movie, even if some scenes are exaggerated.
Movies depicting the war in Iraq are like a necessary catharsis that help to better understand what happened over there.
;-)
Team Jacob must be happy: Taylor Lautner has been confirmed in his role as Jacob Black in the movie New Moon.
The news of Taylor being replaced by Michael Copon caused such an uproar that Summit Entertainment prefers to play it safe and switch back to Taylor who originally played the role of Jacob, Bella’s friend in the movie Twilight.
But Taylor will have to work out his body for New Moon: in New Moon Jacob is supposed to be much taller and stronger, he is becoming a werewolf after all. So Taylor Lautner will not have a rest for a while!
Below Director Chris Weitz confirming Taylor as Jacob:
“[…] I’m very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he’s doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.
The characters in Stephenie’s books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.[…]”
Chris Weitz, Director of the movie New Moon
And also Stephenie Meyer showing her support to the decision:
“I’d just like to add that I was very much a part of this decision. My first priority was always what was best for New Moon—what was going to give us the best possible movie. I’m truly thrilled that Taylor was the one who proved to the director, to Summit, and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I’m very much looking forward to seeing what he’s going to bring to Jacob’s character this year.”
Stephenie Meyer
So Taylor Lautner will keep his role as Jacob Black in the upcoming movie New Moon. Are you thrilled by this confirmation? Why is it so important for you that Taylor keeps his role as Jacob?

As you may know there is a new Judge Dredd movie ahead. We don’t know yet if it is a remake,a sequel or a reboot. But concept arts of the new Judge Dredd have shown up online via Io9:
(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)
Well it seems the new team is decided to fix a few things that weren’t that great with Stallone’s Judge Dredd: like the outfit for example! I think the new Judge Dredd will be closer to the original source material. A real dark sci-fi tale of a bleak future in which most people have been left in the rut of technological progress.

Did you know the young boy who drown here? He was my son….
His name was Jason and today is his birthday!
This new Friday The 13th movie is directed by Marcus Nispel and is starring Derek Mears as king slasher Jason Voorhees. The film will, of course, be released on Friday 13th, this February.

The end of the world is near and it seems that only Nicolas Cage could save us, at least in Knowing, an upcoming movie directed by Alex Proyas. Take a look to some pictures of the movie Knowing below:
Director Alex Proyas’s Knowing looks like a soft eschatological movie compared to Roland Emmerich’s 2012 movie. But only Knowing can boast a few bogeymen in the cast (just check the latest trailer of Knowing and you’ll see them)!
