THE LOSERS

You don’t give them orders,
you just turn them loose.

Their name is a misnomer: those losers are actually elite soldiers!

Sex and the City 3 Movie – SATC 3

Sex and the City 3 MovieThe Sun reignited the rumor that the movie Sex and the City 3 is filmed back to back to SATC 2 because the studios prefer to hurry before the girls get too old. Well, a representative of Newline Cinema said it ain’t so… And actually Sex and the City 3 hasn’t even been officially greenlit yet.

Sex and the City 3 Trailer

But I’m pretty sure that the studios are already thinking about it. And there’s no doubt that the age issue has been raised. They have a great franchise that fans love, but the main actresses are reaching a certain age, and one could not seriously blame the studios for worrying about it…

The Golden Girls TV show was a hit, but I doubt that a Sex and the City 3 movie done in 10 years from now would get the same success. So, they’d better hurry to produce and release Sex and the City 3 before the girls transform into Golden Girls of the 21st century!

Hulk as Avengers Villain?

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige talked about the Avengers movie:

Avengers Movie Hulk

“[…]by the time ‘The Avengers’ comes in 2012, it’s not just a team superhero movie with a bunch of characters with powers. It’s three people – four including the Hulk; five including Nick Fury – who you’ve seen before in other movies, coming together for the very first time.”

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige

He doesn’t tell if Hulk will be friend or foe, but my bet is, like most fans, that Hulk will be the main villain in the Avengers movie: a real showdown opposing the Avengers (Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America) to Hulk!

If Hulk does show up, Edward Norton is likely to reprise his role.

Saw 7 vs Paranormal Activity 2

Saw 7 vs Paranormal Activity 2There is some confusion right now about what movie Kevin Greutert is going to helm. Paramount announced that Kevin Greutert would direct Paranormal Activity 2. But looks like Lionsgate isn’t much happy with this and they have decided to exercise an option from Kevin Greutert’s previous contract: the director would have to give one more year to Lionsgate to direct Saw 7, which means that David Hackl would have to work on something else… And for sure Kevin Greutert isn’t much happy with Lionsgate exercising the option, and he’s been even voicing his anger on his personal blog:

“I just had the task of telling my 83 year old mother that no, I’m not going to be allowed to direct the movie we were all so excited about when my family last got together, and that I’m being forced to leave town before getting a chance to see her again. Yes, I’ll be filming people getting tortured YET AGAIN. So we’ll have to put off me making a film she can actually watch for another year.”

Director Kevin Greutert

The movie industry is a real business, so can’t blame Lionsgate for trying to protect the Saw franchise…

What a PR mess!

Letters to God Movie

Letters to God MovieLetters to God is an upcoming Christian drama movie about a letter carrier who befriend the 9-year-old Tyler Doherty who’s suffering from cancer and who’s trying to send prayer letters to God. It’s a really moving story that we make lot of people cry for sure!

Shia Labeouf Wall Street 2

Actor Shia Labeouf got a lead role in Wall Street Money Never Sleeps, aka Wall Street 2, the upcoming movie sequel to Oliver Stone’s Wall Street. I’ve been wondering if Shia Labeouf has any real smattering of the art of investment. Well if what he told to USA Today is true, I’d say Shia Labeouf do have some impressive trading skills (or was it luck?):

Wall Street 2 Trailer

“I opened up an account when I first met Oliver. It was $20,000. This morning, it was $297,000.”

Shia Labeouf
(talking to USA Today, here)

So Shia Labeouf’s initial investment has been multiplied by 14. Let’s assume that he met Director Oliver Stone 5 years ago (but it’s probably less), this would imply an average rate of return of 172% per year! If Shia Labeouf could keep such a profitability I’d suggest him to quit acting and become a full-time trader. But I now think that he just told some BS to USA Today, or that the journalist misunderstood the final amount (but then even if it’s actually $29,700 that would mean a return rate of 8% per year which would still be a feat)… I’d rather suggest Shia Labeouf to do more research and also to take some new math courses… Or maybe he’s training to play the role of Maddof?

Anyway, here some new pictures of Wall Street 2:

Gossip: Shia Labeouf and Carrey Mulligan, who both star in Wall Street 2, are now a couple!

Get him to the Greek Movie

Get him to the Greek is an upcoming comedy movie spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The movie is focusing on the out-of-control British rock star Aldous Snow (Rusell Brand), and Aaron (Jonah Hill), a music-company intern who must accompany Snow to a concert at LA’s Greek Theater. Get him to the Greek, directed by Nick Stoller, will be released on June 11, 2010.

Here’s a first look at Jonah Hill and Russell Brand in the movie Get him to the Greek:

(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)

Plot:
“Aaron Greenberg (Jonah Hill) is a driven, idealistic young college graduate who works as an intern at a record company. Aaron is given his big break when he is sent to transport flaky English musician Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) to a concert at Los Angeles’ Greek Theater.”

Russell Brand was awesome in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. And judging from the pictures above I’m confident he will deliver the same kind of crazy performance in Get him to the Greek!
:)

The Experiment Movie

The Experiment is an upcoming psychological thriller movie directed by Paul Scheuring and starring Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker, Travis Fimmel, Cam Gigandet, Clifton Collins Jr., and Maggie Grace. It’s a remake of the German movie ‘Das Experiment’. Columbia Pictures will release the Experiment movie sometime in 2010.

Here’s a first look at Adrien Brody in the Experiment:

(Click on the picture to enlarge it.)

Plot:
“26 men are chosen to participate in the roles of guards and prisoners in a psychological study to examine how the effects of assigned roles, power and control affected the participants. But the experiment ultimately spirals out of control…”

Forest Whitaker is a versatile actor, I can definitely imagine Adrien Brody in such a film, and Cam Gigandet did prove that he can play a freak in Pandorum, so the Experiment should be a remake worth watching!

Cars 2 First Look

Thanks to an artwork displayed on Disney’s official site we may have a first look at Cars 2 aka Cars 2 World Grand Prix, the upcoming movie sequel to Disney Pixar’s Cars:

Cars 2 Trailer

(Click on the picture to enlarge it.)

Plot:
“Lightning McQueen, his pit team and new pit boss Mater head around the world for the ‘Race of Champions’, taking place in five different countries: Tokyo, Germany, Italy, a 24-hour race in France and London. However, Mater, involved in a case of mistaken identity, saves the life of a British secret agent Aston Martin called Finn McMissile, and finds himself embroiled in his spy world.”

Mount Fuji in the background of the picture and Japanese characters on the roadside banner indicate that this scene of Cars 2 takes place in Japan. And the Formula One next to Lightning McQueen kind of look like a Toyota F1 car:

The release date of Cars 2 is set for June 24, 2011.

Escape From Planet Earth Movie

Escape From Planet Earth is an upcoming CGI animated comedy movie developed by Vancouver-based Rainmakers Animation. The story revolves around a group of aliens who try to break from Area 51 where they’ve been secretly detained by the US government. The film will be released sometime in 2010.

Escape from Planet Earth Movie

Here’s a first look at the movie Escape from Planet Earth:

(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)

Escape from planet Earth Movie

Plot:
“Escape from Planet Earth is a comedy about an alien prison break from Area 51, the legendary government facility rumored to imprison aliens from every corner of the universe, from which no one ever returns. Gary, an alien every-man, must overcome his fears and self-doubt to lead a daring escape, rescuing not just himself and the other inmates, but also his wife and young daughter, not only from Area 51, but from the Earth, long considered the Bermuda Triangle of the Universe.”

Judging from the pictures above, the CGI in Escape from Planet Earth isn’t exactly state-of-the-art CGI. But the plot sounds interesting. I wonder how the film is going to turn out. A movie trailer of Escape from Planet Earth should show up soon, so we’ll have a better idea by then!

Star Trek 2 Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman

Scriptwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are working on the script of Star Trek 2, and of course they keep the plot secret and aren’t telling much. the But it won’t hinder Star Trek fans from asking for plot details of Star Trek 2. Lucky us, they did give a few – vague – details during a recent Star Trek Q&A:

Star Trek 2 Trailer

Roberto orci

“We would never do a remake. It will be some time in the five-year mission. But that is a question. Should we pick them up immediately the next day or should it be later? We are still discussing that.”

Scriptwriter Roberto Orci

“I think our idea on this is that the first of any series is about them coming together or the formation. I couldn’t really tell you what Jeff Bridges was doing in Iron Man, but it doesn’t matter at all because it is all about Iron Man becoming Iron Man. Whereas I think sequels are very much about the villain. Because while [in the first one] the villain serves to bring the crew together, the second one I think has to be a true challenging of what that family is about. That is why Wrath of Khan was so amazing. Khan tested each one of them and ultimately asked for the ultimate sacrifice, and that is why that movie held up so well.”

Scriptwriter Alex Kurtzman

Those two scriptwriters really want to drive the Trekkies crazy! Come on, can’t they give better hints at who’s gonna be the villain in Star trek 2?
Hmm, actually I think they did give away something: they’re kind of saying that it can’t be Khan because it would be a remake, so keeping in mind that the Klingons were introduced in a deleted scene (available on the Blu-Ray of the first film, you may watch it –>here), I’d say that the next villain will most probably be the Klingons!
:)

Jason Momoa Conan

Director Marcus Nispel finally found an actor to play as Conan in his upcoming take on the Cimmerian barbarian: Jason Momoa has indeed been hired for the job! Here’s a picture of Jason Momoa:

Night at the Museum 3 Movie

Night at the Museum 3 MovieScreenwriter Thomas Lennon, echoing director Shawn Levy, hinted at Night at the Museum 3 movie:

Night at the Museum 3 Trailer

“That after the success of two Night At The Museum films, its no surprise that 20th Century Fox is looking to develop a third and that those suspicions are indeed true and how could you not? I think it’s a really outstanding idea to do ‘Night at the Museum 3’, in fact, I wonder if someone’s not even already working on a script for that. I cannot confirm that for a fact, but I cannot deny it for a fact either…”

Scriptwriter Thomas Lennon

What new museum could possibly welcome Ben Stiller and his friends in the movie Night at the Museum 3? Maybe a European Museum?

Joseph Kosinski Tron Legacy

Director Joseph Kosinski who’s helming Tron Legacy aka Tron 2 talked to MTV about the upcoming sequel to Tron:

Tron Legacy Trailer

“Our approach is not like Avatar, which I think is 3-D from the first shot to the last. Ours is sort of a ‘Wizard of Oz’ approach. Ninety-eight percent of the 3-D is in the world of Tron. The 3-D really starts once we get into the Tron world.
[…]
It’s a combination of technologies that Zemeckis has been using in terms of the completely digital motion-capture of a character and for the live-action camera system. We used a camera developed by James Cameron’s company. We used a newer generation of camera than the one used on Avatar. They built it specifically for us.
[…]
I would say the movie is not far removed [from the comic-con teaser]. The teaser, at least tonally, represented the direction I wanted to take it. That sequence actually doesn’t appear in our film at all. It represents a period of time before our film begins. We were able to refine the design of the light cycles, the characters, the world and kind of flesh it out to a much higher level of detail than we were able to do for the test. What we’re going to see in the film will feel a lot more photorealistic. They did that test with eight or 10 people in a matter of months. We have thousands of people working on the film. It’s a whole different scale.”

Director Joseph Kosinski

Here’s the Tron Legacy trailer he’s talking about:

TRON LEGACY

I was impressed by this teaser, so if this was just made from test footage, I’m gonna be flabbergasted by the movie when it will hit theaters!

Damn impatient to watch the movie Tron legacy!
