A movie adaptation of the A-Team, based on the 1980’s television series is being filmed. The A-Team movie is directed by director Joe Carnahan and is starring Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Sharlto Copley and Jessica Biel.
Plot:
“A group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed.”
The story has been a bit updated: they replaced Vietnam with Iraq for example.
Cast:
– Liam Neeson as John “Hannibal” Smith
– Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck
– Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as Sgt. “B.A.” Baracus
– Sharlto Copley as Capt. “Howling Mad” Murdock
– Jessica Biel
I wasn’t a fan of the A-Team (even if Baracus looked damn great), but the cast of this A-Team movie sounds quite good: Liam Neeson from Taken and Sharlto Copley from District 9!
Let’s watch the opening theme of the original A-Team TV series: Continue reading »
Disney Studios has hired Director Robert Zemeckis to helm the remake of a Yellow Submarine announced that it will produce a 3D remake of The Beatles’ 1968 animation film Yellow Submarine. Pixar isn’t in charge: the film will actually be created by ImageMovers Digital, Disney’s state-of-the-art performance capture animation studio operated in conjunction with Zemeckis and his partners. The Yellow Submarine 3D movie will include 16 major hits of the Beatles as well as recordings from the original animated film.
A first look at the logo of the Yellow Submarine 3D, it was unveiled at Disney’s D23:

YELLOW SUBMARINE 3D
A few words from Robert Zemeckis about the Yellow Submarine 3D:
“Yellow Submarine’ is one of the greatest fantasy films of all time, and making this new 3D performance capture movie is a dream come true for me. With the latest advances in technology, we will be able to take moviegoers on a voyage unlike any other, and bring new excitement and dimension to Pepperland and the various sea worlds they encounter. I’m thrilled to be working with the good folks at Apple Corps and our partners at Disney on this epic retelling of one of my all time favorite films.”

Pirates of the Carribean 4 On Stranger Tides, that’s the new official title of the fourth opus of the Caribbean movie series.
The title was revealed by Walt Disney Pictures at Disney’s D23 expo. Pirates of the Caribbean 4 would have been fine, but I don’t mind the tagline.
In Pirates of the Caribbean 4 On Stranger Tides, Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) will be looking for the fountain of Youth.

Growl is the title of an upcoming horror movie that proposes to mix werewolves and Mixed Martial Arts fighting, so quite an interesting concept! The film is written and directed by Sxv’leithan Essex (don’t ask me how to pronounce his name!). No word yet about the cast. The film is should be released in 2011.
Below two teaser posters of Growl:

GROWL: IT’S THE LAST SOUND YOU’LL HEAR
Plot:
“A traveling underground fight club called The Brawlers arrive at a derelict ghost town tucked away in the Colorado Rockies. They meet the town’s only residents, the Maxilla family who want to buy on to the fight card. But the Maxilla family’s true intentions for the Brawler crew is soon revealed in teeth and claws. Some will be hunted, some will be feed, and some will become part of the family… whether they like it or not.”
I guess the odds are rather in favor of the werewolves but I’d be happy to see werewolves kicked by humans expert in MMA! Count me on for the movie Growl!

Director Oliver Stone and Michael Douglas are teaming up again to bring us a movie sequel to Wall Street, the cult movie released in 1987. This new Wall Street movie is titled ‘Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps”. Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, Frank Langella, and Susan Sarandon are joining the cast ensemble. And it seems like Charlie Sheen, who was in the first movie, may make a cameo, but they’re still workign on that. 20th Century Fox eyes a release on April 23, 2010 for Wall Street 2.
Update – Here’s the first movie trailer of Wall Street 2:
WALL STREET 2
Here below a first look at Shia Labeouf and Frank Langella respectively as the young trader Jacob Moore and Lewis Zabel, Jacob’s mentor, in the movie Wall Street 2:
There is no denying that Wall Street 2 is a timely sequel: the recent meltdown of the world’s financial markets must have given the scriptwriters a wealth of source material! And that’s confirmed by the plot of Wall Street 2:
Plot:
“The film is set 20 years after the first film, in June 2008 before the Wall Street stock market crash and federal bail out, and takes place throughout the aftermath of the stock market crash. Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) has just been released from his prison sentence of 20 years. Despite initial attempts of Gekko trying to warn Wall Street of the soon-to-be economy down-fall, stock market crash no one believes him due to his now defaced image in the financial world. Gekko then decided to re-focus his attention to rebuilding a relationship with his now-estranged daughter Winnie (Carey Mulligan). Due to the time apart (because of his prison sentence), and the fact that Gekko is blamed for his son Rudy’s suicide, Winnie avoids any contact with him.
During this same period in time, young Wall Street trader Jacob’s (Shia LaBeouf) mentor unexpectedly dies (Frank Langella), and Jacob suspects his hedge fund manager (Josh Brolin) of being involved in his mentor’s death. Jacob, who is Winnie’s fiance, wants to seek revenge, and agrees to team-up with Gekko for help; in return Jacob agrees to helps Gekko repair his relationship with Winnie.”
Shia Labeouf’s got that little cute face to play the role of the young ‘innocent’ trader who discovers the ‘evil’ side of his job… I’m a bit sad to hear that Gekko has been tamed down though: how comes he’s trying to warn people about the upcoming crash? The real Gekko would be selling short like hell to make a real fat profit when the crash happens! Greed is good! And with the new derivatives product from the last decade Gekko could make so much more! But nothing stay the same in that world, everything goes down the drain one or another… Even Gekko’s greed… Sad, isn’t it?
Anyway, I guess Wall Street 2 will be a great movie even if the former villain changed side…

When Heath Ledger passed away, filming of the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was not wrapped yet. The project was put to a halt for a while, but Director Terry Gilliam who’s been committed to this movie since a long didn’t want the last footage of Heath to be lost. So he used a plot trick so as to keep Heath ledger’s footage: Heath ledger’s role is now shared with a few of his friends, namely: Colin Farrell, Jude Law and Johnny Depp. So the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is gonna be a strange movie, a mesmerizing movie!

Director Robert Luketic has hired Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl for the movie Killers, a thriller comedy set for a release end of June 2010.
Update – the movie trailer of Killers is now available:
KILLERS
Plot:
“A vacationing woman (Katherine Heigl) meets her ideal man (Ashton Kutcher), leading to a swift marriage. The guy is actually a hitman, but he changes job out of love and keeps his past secret from his new wife. Back at home, however, their idyllic life is upset when they discover their neighbors could be assassins who have been contracted to kill the couple.”
One can but think of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s “Mr & Mrs. Smith” at reading the plot of Killers… But I guess it will be quite different with Luketic helming the project: expect the film to be more comedy than thriller.
Here below a first look at Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl in Killers:
(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)
I read that Ashton Kutcher trained in Thai boxing and other defence skills to be better fit for his role in the movie Killers. So, handsome, rich, married to a gorgeous woman (Demi moore), one of the most famous on Twitter, and now strong: is there any limit to Ashton Kutcher’s ambition?

Comments Off on Jeff Bridges Men Who Stare At Goats
A few new hi-res pictures of Grant Heslov’s Men Who Stare At Goats have been released, and the picture featuring Jeff Bridges is really worth a look:
(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)
Jeff Bridges plays the role of the founder of a military program for developing psychic powers, Bill Django, who has gone missing.
Jeff Bridges looks so different from what we saw in the trailer of Tron Legacy. And actually, I prefer the way he looks in the Men Who Stare at Goats: his new-age outfit. suits him well!

The next Dreamworks new computer-animated movie is titled How To Train Your Dragon. The film is based on the book of the same name based on the book by Cressida Cowell. It’s a comedy adventure set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons. The movie How To Train Your Dragon will be released on March 26, 2010.
There is already an official site, that evolves as the marketing team get more material and a better understanding of what to sell to the public. First there were focusing on the story:
Now looks like they want to emphasize that the movie will be in 3D:
Plot:
“From the studio that brought you Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda comes How to Train Your Dragon—a comedy adventure set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons, based on the book by Cressida Cowell. The story centers around a scrawny Viking teenager named Hiccup (Jay Baruchel), who lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. The teen’s smarts and offbeat sense of humor don’t sit too well with his tribe or its chief…who just happens to be Hiccup’s father. However, when Hiccup is included in Dragon Training with the other Viking teens, he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter. But when he encounters (and ultimately befriends) an injured dragon, his world is flipped upside down, and what started out as Hiccup’s one shot to prove himself turns into an opportunity to set a new course for the future of the entire tribe.”
I hope that the movie How To Train Your Dragon will be closer to the spirit of Kung Fu Panda than to Shrek…

Comments Off on Nicolas Winding Refn Valhalla Rising
Take a look to this series of pictures of Valhalla Rising, a viking action movie directed by Nicolas Winding Refn:
(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)
Plot:
“Valhalla Rising begins on a desolate coast where the heads of warring clans meet in battle. For years, the most fearsome and successful fighter has been an enigmatic figure known only as One Eye (played by the inestimable Mads Mikkelsen, star of the first two Pusher films, as well as Casino Royale and Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, also playing at the Festival).
Silent and lethal, One Eye has defeated everyone he’s encountered, but he’s treated more like an animal than a warrior. The only person he has any relationship with is the young boy who brings him food and water daily. Constantly caged and shackled, One Eye has drawn the attention of a new force now sweeping the countryside and displacing the society’s leaders: Christians.
Determined to claim territory for his faith, the leader of a band of Christians sets sail on an ill-fated odyssey to the Holy Land with One Eye and the young boy in tow. Referencing masters like Akira Kurosawa and Sergio Leone with a touch of Andrei Tarkovsky thrown in for good measure, Valhalla Rising shows how carnage, once invoked, has no fealty but to itself. Little separates the Christians from their pagan predecessors – they’re just as bellicose and bloodthirsty.”
So may argue, but I really think the world is getting better. Our uninhibited ancestors were nasty savages. The myth of a lost Golden Age of peace is just a fallacious creation. Peace isn’t in the past, but ahead of us. We’re no angels yet: our wars may have a larger scale than before, but there is less savagery and there is a world consensus that favor peace. Maybe one day, we’ll get rid of that violence, I’m a bit afraid though that lawyers would then rule the world…

Here below a first official picture of Law Abiding Citizen, an upcoming thriller movie directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Gerard Butler, Jamie Foxx:

The story of Law Abiding Citizen isn’t much original, but with Gerard Butler in the lead role I can but give it a try!
:)
If the Saw movie series ever comes to a end, they should create a museum to show all the traps created for the franchise. So much twisted creativity in Saw!
:)
Pro-weed fleshy Seth Rogen has managed to push through his Green Hornet action comedy movie… Quite a sad news I think, but I’d be pleased to be proved wrong about that! Anyway the crew has started to film and we got the first pictures:
Director Michel Gondry has been hired to helm the project and big names like Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz have also been hired as a safety net. But I’m not sure this will be enough for us to forget that Seth Rogen is hiding behind the mask of the Green Hornet. Anyway, at least Jay Chou looks damn great as Kato, the Green Hornet’s sidekick.
