According to variety James Vanderbilt has been hired by Sony Pictures to pen the screenplay of Spiderman 5 and Spiderman 6!

But as far as I know the script for Spiderman 4 isn’t even ready yet… Or maybe they’ve got a first draft and are damn confident that it’s gonna be a hit? Nope, more probably, the just want to cash in on a successful franchise: Spiderman is like a goose laying golden eggs I guess.

Let’s hope they would film Spider-man 5 and Spider-Man 6 back-to-back so we wouldn’t have to wait too long between the two movies.

On August 21, the world will get its first look at director James Cameron’s motion picture epic AVATAR, when Twentieth Century Fox and Cameron debut the film’s trailer everywhere – while select cinemas and IMAX theaters will screen extended footage prepared by the renowned filmmaker for this global “Avatar Day” event.

The picture above has been released just to tease us for the event. Behind Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) we may see a vat containing his avatar: Jake Sully’s human body is stuck in a wheelchair, but his spirit will be somehow connected to the alien body in the vat before it is sent to the planet Pandora’s surface.

While trying to escape an imminent danger the team activates the ninth and final gate chevron (whose purpose was previously unknown) and get aboard the Destiny. But that’s a one-way trip, without return to Earth… Unable to return to Earth, they must fend for themselves aboard the ship as it takes them to the far reaches of the universe.”

This new Stargate TV series will a bit darker than what we may have been used to with the franchise. But don’t worry: it’s for the best! Because I’m definitely convinced now that this series is the sci-fi weekly fix that we’re all waiting for!

District 9 has been released and the film wasn’t overhyped: it’s definitely a great sci-fi movie, sure to be cult! And if you’re craving for for a movie sequel, then you can help by telling to you friends how great the movie is. Because Director Neill Blomkamp stated indeed that there could be a movie sequel to District 9 if:

“If this film is successful, if audiences want another, whatever, District 10, I would love to do it. It’s a very personal film, and it’s a universe and a place that I find incredibly creative. I’d love to go back to that universe.”

So please, tell your friend about District 9, even go watch it again with you family: let’s make District a real success so Director Neill Blomkamp starts to work on the movie sequel of District 9 as soon as possible!

Some new pictures of Alejandro Amenabar’s Agora, an historical drama starring Rachel Weiz as philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria and Max Minghella as her slave Davus:

No CGI there: gorgeous sets were specially built for the movie Agora. I guess Director Alejandro Amenabar had some serious financial support to produce this film.

You may watch below the movie trailer of When In Rome, an upcoming romantic comedy movie directed by Mark Steven Johnson and starring Kristen Bell, Josh Duhamel, Danny DeVito, Jon Heder, Will Arnett and Dax Shepard. The film will be released end of January 2010.

WHEN IN ROME

“An ambitious young New Yorker (Kristen Bell), disillusioned with romance, takes a whirlwind trip to Rome where she defiantly plucks magic coins from a ‘foolish’ fountain of love, inexplicably igniting the passion of an odd group of suitors: a sausage magnate (Danny DeVito), a street magician (Jon Heder), an adoring painter (Will Arnett) and a self-admiring model (Dax Shepard). But when a charming reporter (Josh Duhamel) pursues her with equal zest, how will she know if his love is the real thing?”

Not sure that a few coins would be enough for me to forget Kristen Bell’s role in Heroes… Watching this trailer of When In Rome I was almost expecting her to unleash her electric rage! Anyway, I enjoyed the music heard in this trailer, hope the movie soundtrack will be as good.

Actor Woody Harrelson besides slaying zombies in Zombieland is also starring as a part-time would-be superhero in the upcoming comedy movie Defendor. The film is written and directed by Peter Stebbings.

“Reality intersects with delusion in the mind of Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson), a regular man who adopts a superhero persona known as Defendor, and combs the city streets at night in search of his arch-enemy, Captain Industry. Armed with unconventional weapons of mass confusion, aided by his new friend, and putting his life on the line, Defendor proves that everyone is capable of making a difference. ”

It sounds a bit like Kick-Ass but I think there will be much more humor in the movie Defendor: can but have a good laugh with Woody Harrelson!
