Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs looks like a really refreshing movie that both entertains and tries to make us think about real issues or world is facing, like hunger.

On a side note I’m glad to see a scientist as the hero of a movie. Let’s hope that many kids will get inspired and will become scientist too later on: our country is definitely in need of brilliant scientists!

State of PlayBen Affleck and Russell Crowe are starring in State of Play, an upcoming dramatic crime thriller movie directed by Kevin Macdonald. The story revolves around a journalist (Russel Crowe) who unveils a conspiracy while investigating the murder of the mistress of a congressman (Ben Affleck). Behind the story the truth lies
But the conspiracy goes higher.

This new State of Play trailer gives a more appealing overview of the movie. I especially like the scene showing both Crowe and Affleck: they are like an old dude and a young wolf.

Sherlock Holmes Movie Cast Interview

Sherlock Holmes new movieDirector Guy Ritchie is trying to forget Madonna by working hard on his own movie adaptation of Sherlock Holmes.

ET visited the movie set, and met the movie cast :

Sherlock Holmes Cast Interview

I like those interviews made on movie sets: they’re much more natural and telling than the artificial promo interview given just before the final release.

Robert Downey Jr. is giving an interesting point of view regarding the controversy there could be around Guy Ritchie’s modern take on Sherlock Holmes:

“The reinvention [of Sherlock Holmes] is actually a return to the idiosyncrasy that Conan Doyle had in his books that people hadn’t really pay much attention to.”

Robert Downey Jr.

The movie Sherlock Holmes will be released on Christmas 2009. I’ll have to encourage my kids to read a few Sherlock Holmes book by then!

Monsters vs Aliens Preview Clips

Monsters vs Aliens Clip

What the flagnode!
Gallaxhar wants to take the quantonium from Ginormica’s body, but it won’t be as easy as the villain first thought.

Plot:
“When a meteorite from outer space hits a young girl and turns her into a giant monster, she is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years.”

Centurion Movie

Director Neil Marshall must have some obsession that mixes Great Britain and dangerous tribes. Indeed the director who brought us Doomsday is once again making a movie taking place over there, and of course there is a fierce tribe in the plot. The film, titled Centurion, is set in Britain in AD 117 and is about a bunch of Roman soldiers determined to wipe out the Picts, a defiant local tribe.

Centurion Movie by Neil Marshall

Update: the trailer of Centurion has been released:

CENTURION

Centurion is directed by by Neil Marshall based on a script he wrote. The film is starring Michael Fassbender, Dominic West and Olga Kurylenko. It should be released end of 2009.

Thanks to Empire, here below a first look at Olga Kurylenko as Etain, a savage-looking Pict warrior woman, in the movie Centurion:

(Click on the picture to enlarge it.)
Olga Kurylenko - Centurion movie

Olga Kurylenko talking about her role in Centurion:

Olga Kurylenko

“Etain is quite furious. Because one sense is not there – she can’t speak – all the others are more developed. She sees very well and hears very well: she is an animal!”

Olga Kurylenko

Plot:
“The British-set sword and sandals thriller, set during the Roman invasion of Britain in AD 117, details the story of Quintus Dias, sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort, who marches north with General Virilus’ legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the earth and destroy their leader Gorlacon.” (Source: Coming Soon)

This could be an exciting movie if done well. Let’s hope that Neil Marshall will really exploit the historical setting of the movie and that he will focus on the plot a bit more than he did in Doomsday. I mean a Roman legion battling against savages should not boil down to a bloody carnage (we need this too though!), I hope he will take time to introduce some historical facts.

Anyway, the movie Centurion should be good!

Transformers 3 Movie

Transformers 3 Movie - Release date: July 1, 2011We now have an official confirmation from Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures that a Transformers 3 movie is definitely at the horizon. The studios have set the release date of Transformers 3 on July 1, 2011.

Transformers 3 in July 2011

No official word about Shia Labeouf and Michael Bay: but can’t imagine them not being back, so it’s quite sure they’re in for Transformers 3.

This third Transformers movie will be incredibly marvelous with the new development in CGI and special effects. And we can fairly expect that Transformers 3 will go real 3D: just imagine giant robots battling in your IMAX theater: gorgeous!
:)

Sam Raimi Spiderman 4

Spiderman 4 MovieDirector Sam Raimi has been talking about Spiderman 4 in an interview given to MTV (here), and here the most interesting tidbit:

“We’re definitely talking about working from all the material in the comic books and nothing [invented] outside of that, ‘Raimi continued. ‘All the characters or villain or villains, whatever we decide to do will be from Stan Lee’s creations or those that came after him.”

Sam Raimi

So they dugg into the precious history of Spider-Man comic books in order to select the right villain(s) for Spiderman 4. Well, I’m quite sure that the Lizard will finally get his part, even Stan Lee wants the Lizard in Spiderman 4! And if Sony and Sam Raimi insist to bring in one more villain, my bet would be on Morbius the living vampire.

By the way, Spiderman 4 is scheduled to be released on May 6, 2011. Tobey Maguire will of course reprise his role as Peter Parker aka Spiderman, and Kirsten Dunst is more than likely to be proposed her role back (the old Sam Raimi has indeed a crush on her).

Tron 2 Soundtrack

Walt Disney Pictures has enrolled the French electronic-music duo Daft Punk to score Tron 2, the upcoming movie sequel to Tron. I bet those two geeks are damn happy:

Tron 2 Daft Punk

Daft Punk - Tron 2 SoundtrackI really enjoy their electronic sound (I’m especially fan of the song ‘Around the World’). It would be nice to see them getting some cameo too in Tron 2.

Shouldn’t be that much work to integrate them into the network of Tron 2 after all!

Dragonball Evolution TV Spot

Dragonball is the worst movie adaptation ever! Not sure I should show this A UK TV spot of Dragonball: I’ve seen the movie and it’s such a let down… One may think that the movie will be good from watching this well cut TV spot of DB Evolution, but the truth is: Dragonball Evolution just s**ks!

Anyway, this spot is still worth a look:

Dragonball TV Spot

DRAGONBALL UK TV Spot

Nothing much in DB Evolution, here a summary (spoiler!):

Training – Goku and Chichi flirting – Gran Pa is killed – Goku Meets Bulma and Roshi then Yamcha – Goku and Chichi flirting – Piccolo is defeated by Goku in just a very short scene…

A crappy movie that feels low-cost (how can it feel low cost with so much CGI by the way? how is such a feat possible?), with a really superficial plot that’s far far away from the original manga…

Believe me: keep your bucks for an other movie, wait for this one to air on cable if you’re still curious about it. What a let down!

Christian Alvart Pandorum

Director Christian Alvart is bringing us Pandorum, an upcoming dark sci-fi horror movie based on a script written by Travis Milloy. Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster have the lead roles in the film. Pandorum is scheduled for a release on September 4, 2009.

Here below the first official movie poster of Pandorum:

Pandorum MoviePANDORUM

Fear what happens next…

Plot:
“A terrifying thriller in which two crew members wake up on an abandoned spacecraft with no idea who they are, how long they’ve been asleep, or what their mission is. The two soon discover they’re actually not alone — and the reality of their situation is more horrifying than they could have imagined.”

The premise of this movie is full of promises! And judging from this movie poster we may expect some really dark and intense mixx of science-fiction and gruesome creepiness in this movie!
