Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Movie

Pirates of the Caribbean 4Some good news for the fans of Captain Jack Sparrow and of the Pirates of the Caribbean: it’s been announced that Pirates of the Caribbean would be released in 2011 instead of 2012!

Pirates of the Caribbean 4

“We’re going to shoot Pirates 4 in April and May of next year. We are going to release it hopefully in 2011. Pirates 4 would hopefully be the first of another trilogy.”

Walt Disney’s Head of Production Oren Aviv

Not sure that Director Gore Verbinski will return to helm this fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie: I guess there’s money talk behind this, or some other schedule conflict.

There was a strong rumor about the Fountain of Youth being central in the plot of Pirates of the Caribbean 4: well it’s indeed likely to be that! Hollywood Elsewhere got confirmation from one their secret-but-reliable sources. There is also mention of a kind of Captain Nemo utilizing new-style technology who would be the new villain in this new opus of Pirates of the Caribbean 4.

No more more whinning from Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom who left the boat, but fortunately Johnny Depp will be back as Jack Sparrow, and Geoffrey Rush is also probably reprising his role as Captain Barbossa.

So impatient to watch the movie Pirates of the Caribbean 4!

xXx 3 Movie

xXx 3 MovieThere is a new xXx movie ahead of us: Columbia Pictures has indeed hired Ericson Core to direct this new xXx movie sequel. It will be titled xXx The Return of Xander Cage, aka xXx 3. Fortunately Vin Diesel will reprise his role as Xander Cage: he is the only xXx agent

xXx 3 Trailer

Plot:
“Xander Cage return to the National Security Agency after an eight-year absence.”

To be honest, I don’t really remember what the first xXx movie was about, I barely remember Diesel messing up with some Russian mafia: for me, xXx was a movie I enjoyed, but forgot quite fast. And I didn’t watch the second opus because it wasn’t starring Vin Diesel (he was replaced by Ice Cube).

But knowing that Vin Diesel will be back in the movie xXx 3 kind of rekindles my interest in the franchise.

The movie xXx The Return of Xander Cage, aka xXx 3, should be released in Summer 2010.

If like me you don’t really remember what Triple X is about, watch the movie trailer of the first xXx film below: Continue reading »

Bioshock Movie

Bioshock MovieThe first-person shooter video game BioShock seems closer to get a movie adaptation. A year ago, Director Gore Verbinski was announced to helm the project, but it was then put on hold by the studio because of an excessive budget. But the buzz around the Bioshock movie is now reigniting: according to the rumor Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) seems likely to take over the project.

Plot:
“A plane-crash survivor discovers an underwater utopia of sinister origins.”

IMDB is still listing the movie Bioshock for a release in 2010. But it will more likely be released in 2011 I think.

Benicio del Toro The Wolf Man

The Wolf ManBenicio del Toro is a hungry werewolf in the Wolf Man, an upcoming horror movie directed by Joe Johnston:

(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)

Plot:
“Set in the late 1880s, the film keeps the plotline of the original 1941 movie, with Lawrence Talbot (Benicio del Toro) meeting his father (Anthony Hopkins) following the death (and in the remake, disappearance) of his brother. The film details events during Lawrence’s past that led to his estrangement from his father (which includes Gwen), and the setting is changed from the mythical Welsh village of Llanwelly to the English village of Blackmore and the city of London. The official synopsis states Talbot was traumatized by his mother’s death as a child, while Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt) is his brother’s fiancĂ©e. Following his brother’s disappearance, Talbot hunts a murderer, which turns out to be a werewolf, and the curse is passed on.”

The Wolf Man will sink his teeth into the box office in February 2010.

The Princess and The Frog Trading Cards

The Princess and the FrogThe Princess and the Frog, the latest Disney animated movie, won’t amazed us with its CGI, it’s indeed hand-drawn. But, the characters depicted in this film may conquer the public! Here below a set of cards from the last comic con:

The Princess and the Frog Cards

Princess Tiana

A bright, hard-working resourceful visionary

Naveen

The handsome and gregarious Prince of Maldonia

Ray

The lovesick Cajun firefly

Louis, The Jazz Virtuozo

Fun-loving allogator with a heart of gold and a love of jazz

Dr. Facilier, Master of Shadows

The sinister (yet charismatic) Witch Doctor

Big Daddy

Richest man of all Louisiana

Charlotte

Tiana’s enthusiastic romance-obsessed (very spoiled) debutante friend

Lawrence, the pompous valet

Prince Naveen’s stiff roly-poly (and comically sinister) manservant

Friends from the other sides

Sinister shadows who carry out Dr, Facilier’s dark deeds

James & Eudora, the parents

Tiana’s nurturing mother and inspirational father

Mama Odie

A 200-year-old voodoo priestess, all knowing seer

Two Fingers, Reggie, Darnell, aka The Frog Hunters

The hilarious (though dim-witted) father-son trio of frog hunters

Plot:
“When the free-spirited, jazz-loving Prince Naveen of Maldonia (Bruno Campos) comes to town a deal with a shady voodoo doctor goes bad and the once suave royal is turned into a frog. In a desperate attempt to be human again, a favor in exchange for a fateful kiss on the lips from the beautiful girl, Tiana (Anika Noni Rose), takes an unexpected turn and leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana to the banks of the almighty Mississippi and back in time for Mardi Gras in New Orleans. An unforgettable tale filled with music, humor and heart where two frogs—along with the help of a 200-year-old voodoo priestess, a love-sick Cajun firefly, and a trumpet-playing alligator—discover that what they want isn’t as important as what they need.”

Tiana is a black girl but the frog is actually a white guy. A few people were bugged by Disney’s choice, but I’m all for movies featuring interracial unions: it’s the future of the country after all (just check the last census!), and it’s good to see that Hollywood is adjusting to the reality!

X-Files 3 in 2012

X-Files 3Actress Gillian Anderson said that she’s ready to reprise her role as Scully for a new X-Files movie. And according to the rumor, the movie X-Files 3 is in preparation and should be filmed in 2012. That date may ring a bell for X-Files fans. Not so long ago Scriptwriter-producer Frank Spotnitz even hinted at 2012 as a possible plot element for the next X-Files movie sequel:

Frank Spotnitz the father of X-Files

“As you know the date of December 2012 is an important one in ‘The X-Files,’ and I’d like to focus on that.”

Frank Spotnitz

According to X-Files lore, the final stage of the Alien invasion is due to start in December 2012. So yes bring it on! We don’t want to see stupid beheaded monsters again…We want the real deal that made X-Files a success: we want the aliens back in the movie X-Files 3!

Werner Herzog Bad Lieutenant

Take a look to those pictures of bad Lieutenant, the upcoming remake movie directed by Werner Herzog and starring Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes:

(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)

Abel Ferrara who directed the original Bad Lieutenant movie in the 1990’s is badmouthing this new Bad Lieutenant movie. But judging from the material released so far, Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant is going to be a great movie on its own. And Nicolas Cage’s charisma really shines in this movie even if he’s playing the role of an antihero.
