War on crime
J. Edgar Hoover (Billy Crudup) introduces Agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale) to the press.

Sitting Amongst You
John Dillinger (Johnny Depp) and his gang watch a newsreel about themselves in a movie theater.

Johnny Depp has definitely more charisma than Christian Bale on screen. Must be because Christian Bale’s acting is a bit too cold, and I’m not just talking about his rola in the movi Public Enemies, I mean in general…

The handsome Johnny Depp is playing the role of gangster John Dillinger, and Christian Bale got the role of FBI Agent Melvin Purvis who’s determined to send Dillinger in jail. French Actress Marion Cotillard plays the role of Dillinger’s girlfriend.

Johnny Depp gets along well with French girls, just look at the pictures of him and Marion Cotillard: what a lovely couple! No wonder after all Johnny Depp’s wife is French.

Johnny Depp vs. Christian Bale - Public EnemiesDirector Michael Mann has been working on Public Enemies, an upcoming action period movie starring Johnny Depp and Christian bale:

Johnny Depp Public Enemies Trailer

PUBLIC ENEMIES

In 1933 America’s most notorious criminal was finally brought to justice.

From Michael Mann

with Christian Bale, Johnny Depp and Marion Cotillard.

Movie Cast:
– Johnny Depp as John Dillinger: An American bank robber whose exploits dominated the press during what is sometimes referred to as the public enemy era, between 1931 and 1935.
– Christian Bale as Melvin Purvis: An FBI agent chosen by J. Edgar Hoover to lead a manhunt to catch Dillinger.
– Marion Cotillard as Billie Frechette: Dillinger’s torch singer girlfriend.
– Channing Tatum as Pretty Boy Floyd: An American bank robber and alleged killer.

Would not have expected so much action in the movie Public Enemies: I’m impressed by this this movie trailer. But I can but think of the Dark Knight every time I see Christian Bale in this movie: I’d even say that this is a Dark Knight transported back to the 1930’s and without masks… But still it’s damn enjoyable!

:)

Public Enemies Trailer

Johnny Depp vs. Christian Bale - Public EnemiesJohnny Depp’s career may have started with the role of a cop in 21 Jump Street, but it seems that ditch this early character for more villainous roles afterward: being a pirate in POTC, a serial killer in Sweeney Todd. He confirms his interest for dark characters in Public Enemies in which he plays the role of John Dillinger the gangster from the 1930s. Here below the first official trailer of Public Enemies:

Public Enemies Movie Trailer

Christian Bale on the other hand sticks to to the lawful side with roles like Batman, John Connor in Terminator, and FBI Agent Purvis in Public Enemies.

That’s probably why Johnny Depp is way better than Christian Bale!

Johnny Depp Public Enemies

Johnny Depp is John Dillinger the famous heister from the 1930s in Public Enemies, an upcoming period movie directed by Michael Mann:

Guess who’s facing this handsome villain: Christian Bale in the role of FBI agent Melvin Purvis!

I definitely prefer Johnny Depp over Christian Bale. What about you? Who’s your favorite actor?

Christian Bale Public Enemies

Director Michael Mann must have heard about Christian Bale’s sneakiness (Bale has been sneaky more often than not in Batman and it seems he is also getting sneaky in Terminator 4!) because we’ve got a new picture of Christian Bale in a sneaky position in a scene of Public Enemies has popped up:

In Public Enemies Christian Bale is Melvin Purvis, an FBI agent chosen by J. Edgar Hoover to lead a manhunt to catch Dillinger the gangster (Johnny Depp).

Marion Cotillard and Johnny Depp Public Enemies

In Public Enemies, upcoming period movie directed by Michael Mann, Johnny Depp plays the role of John Dillinger the gangster and French actress Marion Cotillard (she once played the role of Edith Piaf) got the role of Dilinger’s partner in love and in crime:

The original criminals (below) were not as photogenic as Johnny Depp and Marion Cotillard…

But that’s a distortion of History that Hollywood is used to!

Take your side: are you with the Dark Knight or with Jack Sparrow?

In real life I’d sign for sending John Dilinger to the electric chair, but in this movie, I can but take his side if his role is played by Johnny Depp: Depp is a so much better actor than Christian Bale!

Don’t miss the movie Public Enemies in July 2009!
