You may enjoy below a clip of Shane Acker’s 9 movie, the clip features a group of post-apocalyptic ragdolls facing the attack of a hypnotizing baddie:
Plot:
“When 9 (Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.”
Those straw men rock! No wonder Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton are producing the movie 9! Let’s hope that the whole movie will deliver as in this preview clip of 9.

South African filmmaker Neill Blomkamp, who once brought us the Halo short films, has been working on District 9, his first feature film. Disctrict 9 is a sci-fi movie starring Jason Cope, Robert Hobbs and Sharlto Copley. It will be released on August 14, 2009.
Plot:
“An extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth suddenly find a kindred spirit in a government agent that is exposed to their biotechnology.
The aliens are called the ‘Non-Humans’ and are forced to work the Multi National United company (MNU for short). A kind of apartheid discriminating the non-humans has been enforced. Throughout the film, the Non-Humans will try to free themselves from MNU’s grasp.”

Thanks to Slashfilm, here below a first look at Sharlto Copley as Wikus, a Multi-National United agent who’s been infected by alien goo:

A viral website has been set up for District 9 (here): they were obviously inspired by Cloverfield.
Quite sure that District 9 will shape up as the surprise of this Summer. Neill Blomkamp did indeed a good job with his Halo short films and I believe he can stretch his skills to deliver a great sci-fi feature movie.

They Came From Upstairs Trailer
I’d like to order right away the remote control gizmo shown in this trailer of They Came From Upstairs! The dog next door consider my lawn as his personal toilets, because it’s a rottweiler I don’t dare kick his butt when I see him, so such a gizmo could be handy! I would control the dog like they control Gerard Butler in Gamer!

The DaVinci Code was controversial, so much that it drove crowds to theaters. Angels and Demons, the sequel to the DaVinci Codel, does not generate as much buzz though. Well, a few well-designed poster could stir things up. And it looks like that’s the strategy in France, where new posters of Angels and Demons is insunating that the Holy See is hiding strange secrets…

What is the Vatican hiding?
The two posters above were to be displayed on buses in Paris but it seems that the bus company is refusing those fearing a backlash from Catholic groups. Bad buzz good buzz!
Two more international posters of Angels and Demons, they’re quite bland so eyebrows are unlikely to raise here:
