With both Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner reprising their roles it is clear that Disney is counting on fans’ nostalgia!
I supposed they checked the negative buzz following the title change to TRZ and are now rolling back to a more friendly TRON 2.0 (the plot has no relation with the game of the same name as far I know). But I’d suggest to leave the .0 part (unless Disney wants to get a featured post on Michael Arrington’s Techcrunch…) and just go with the streamlined title of TRON 2!

In Public Enemies, upcoming period movie directed by Michael Mann, Johnny Depp plays the role of John Dillinger the gangster and French actress Marion Cotillard (she once played the role of Edith Piaf) got the role of Dilinger’s partner in love and in crime:

The original criminals (below) were not as photogenic as Johnny Depp and Marion Cotillard…
But that’s a distortion of History that Hollywood is used to!

The Code (also title Thick as Thieves) is an upcoming heist movie directed by Mimi Leder and starring Morgan Freeman, Antonio Banderas and Radha Mitchell. I prefer the former movie tittle: Thick as thieves sounds much more funny than The Code! But I suppose that some cold-feet marketing executive vetoed the title and change it to The Code… More mainstream maybe, but so trivial… Besides, curiously, there is no release date yet for the USA, and it looks like that Taiwan (in January) and Spain (in February) will have the premiere of The Code….
Here below the first movie trailer of the Code (an international Code trailer from Taiwan actually):
Plot:
“A veteran thief recruits a younger crook to help him pull off one final job in order to repay his debt to the Russian mob. Mitchell plays a temptress whose romantic liaison with a thief (Banderas) threatens to come between him and his partner in crime, her godfather (Freeman).”
The plot of movie of The Code does not seem to bring anything new but Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas make a good duo. Also, Radha Mitchell looks so sexy when she dances! So shall give The Code a try!

I wish I didn’t read the novel the movie is based on: I would have been really surprised by the plot of the Reader. But even knowing what the Reader is about I’m still impatient to see the movie. Maybe even more impatient with Kate Winslet having the lead role!

The movie Wendy and Lucy is about a woman whose life is derailed en route to a potentially lucrative summer job when her car breaks down…
It’s a heartbreaking movie that somehow mirrors what’s happening to many through America because of the the current recession…
Wendy and Lucy is an independent movie but it has a country-wide release, to know the nearest theater in which you may watch Wendy and Lucy, just head to the official site at:
Summit Entertainment has announced the release date of the movie New Moon, sequel to Twilight: New Moon is tentatively scheduled for a release on November 20, 2009.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be back respectively as Edward and Bella. But Summit Entertainment has decided to replace Director Catherine Hardwicke with Chris Weitz.
Now they can indeed afford a more expensive director: the first Twilight movie was real gold for the production company.
As long as Stephenie Meyer keeps scrutinizing the development of the movie New Moon, there is no need to worry about the change for the fans.

Plot synopsis:
“In Nazi Germany during World War II, as the tide turned in favor of The Allies, a cadre of senior German officers and politicians desperately plot to topple the Nazi regime before the nation is crushed in a near-inevitable defeat. To this end, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, an Army officer convinced he must save Germany from Hitler, is recruited to mastermind a real plan. To do so, he arranges for the internal emergency measure, Operation: Valkyrie, to be changed to enable his fellows to seize control of Berlin after the assassination of the Fuhrer. However, even as the plan is put into action, a combination of bad luck and human failings conspire on their own to create a tragedy that would prolong the greater one gripping Europe.”
Colonel Stauffenberg was a real hero, so sad his attempt at assassinating the evil Hitler failed…

Do you remember Judge Dredd, the sci-fi movie set in a dystopian future starring Sylvester Stallone as a super super cop with instant field judiciary powers? Well that movie is gonna have a reboot or maybe it will have a sequel. It’s been announced (here) on the official forum of 2000 AD, the weekly British science fiction-oriented who was behind the original Judge Dredd comics:
“Rebellion and 2000 AD are proud to announce that Judge Dredd is coming to a cinema near you soon!
Together with DNA Films, the movie production company behind such great sci-fi movies such as Sunshine and 28 Weeks Later, Judge Dredd will go into production in 2009.
Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director said, ‘We can’t give away too many details at this point, but we’re looking forward to working with DNA Films to bring Judge Dredd back to the big screen.’
We’ll keep you up to date with breaking news as it happens!”

If the movie goes in production in the second half of 2009 (I doubt it would start before), considering that post-production would require a lot of CGI I guess, we may expect this new Judge Dredd movie to be released in 2011 and if lucky end of 2010.
Let’s remember the original Judge Dredd movie with this theatrical trailer:
Judge Dredd (Sylvester Stallone) was the law:
Judge Dredd: I am the law!
Don’t know yet what is ahead, reboot Judge Dredd remake or Judge Dredd sequel (or even a prequel?) but I bet they will somewhat update this damn kitsch outfit Stallone was wearing:
All that’s quite sure is that Sylvester Stallone will not have the lead role: he’s definitely too old for the character by now (besides he’s busy with Rambo 5).
The original Judge Dredd movie was already cheesy even in 1995 but this news makes my day: I did like the movie at the time!
