“College student Sara (Minka Kelly) finds her safety jeopardized after she’s assigned to a dorm room with a new roommate, Rebecca (Leighton Meester).”
Let’s hope that the Roommate movie will be more than a cat fight…
;-P
Ben Affleck is directing and starring in The Town, an upcoming crime drama movie. Along Ben Affleck the film is also starring Blake Lively, Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, Chris Cooper and Slaine. The film will be released on September 10, 2010.
Here below a first low at Ben Affleck in the Town:
(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)
Plot:
“As he plans his next job, a longtime thief tries to balance his feelings for a bank manager connected to one of his earlier heists, as well as the FBI agent looking to bring him and his crew down.”
I didn’t Ben Affleck was directing movies, and The Town isn’t his directorial debut: this is actually the fourth movie he’s helming! I wonder how the movie The Town is going to turn out.

There is a new Flash Gordon movie ahead. And it won’t be cheesy like the 1980 version: Director Breck Eisner (whose movie ‘The Crazies‘ will be released in February) will be in charge of the project, and he’s likely to do for Flash Gordon what Christopher Nolan did for the Batman movie franchise with batman Begins.
Plot:
“American football player Flash Gordon and his beautiful girlfriend Dale Arden become unwillingly passengers on-board Dr. Hans Zarkov’s rocket-ship, where they arrive on the planet Mongo, ruled by the evil Emperor Ming the Merciless.”
Breck Eisner’s take on Flash Gordon promises indeed to be a darker version filled with adventure and action:
“The thing about FLASH is, you’ve got to throw away the 80s version of it. I want it to be intense, aggressive, gritty and real. For me it’s about reinventing FLASH – we’re still staying true to the adventure origins of it, and the adventurous spirit in that movie, absolutely. It’s this man brought to another planet and uniting the disparate groups on Mongo, but there is a gritty, intense, dynamic, active quality to the movie. Very modern. It’s not camp.”
Director Breck Eisner
Now, if only Breck Eisner could learn from James Cameron’s experience on the movie Avatar, then the movie Flash Gordon would be damn awesome! Just imagine Flash Gordon’s epic journey on the planet Mongo in 3D and in IMAX, how fantastic it would be!
The movie Flash Gordon should be released sometime in 2012. Hope to get more information soon!
:)
Plot:
“In this new telling of the classic fairy tale, audiences will be transported to a stunning CG fantasy world complete with the iconic tower, an evil witch, a gallant hero and, of course, the mysterious girl with the long golden tresses. Expect adventure, heart, humor, and hair… lots of hair, when Rapunzel unleashes her locks in theaters for the 2010 holiday.”
Actress Mandy Moore who’s lending her voice to Rapunzel said about her character:
“Rapunzel is sort of the quintessential sassy, feisty Disney heroine. She’s quite modern, quite a curious girl as well. She’s just coming into her own and is anxious to figure out a way to see the world around her that she’s been kept away from for so many years.”
Actress Mandy Moore
The movie Rapunzel was first directed by Glen Keane and it was titled Rapunzel Unbraided: Rapunzel was kind of looking like Barby in this version. But the project has since been revamped and it is now directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno: Rapunzel looks somewha more natural (picture above). But I don’t think she is that much different from Glen Keane’s Rapunzel, here’s an early clip of Rapunzel (the unbraided version):
The movie Rapunzel will be released on November 24, 2010.

Director Peter berg is tackling the movie adaptation of Battleship, the famous board game. But it won’t be the Battleship you may expect: Peter Berg’s Battleship is about a few battleships battling against an alien invasion! The cast hasn’t been announced yet.
Director Peter Berg talked about the plot of Battleship the movie:
“There’s a group of life forms from some other planet have come to our planet for something. They’ve got a very specific agenda. That agenda is not global domination. It’s an agenda and that agenda puts them into conflict with members of our military. Their technology is relatable. It’s not incredibly far out and unbeatable. It’s comprehensible. Hopefully it’ll make for good fun and an intense ride.”
Director Peter berg
The movie Battleship will probably be in 3D. It is set for a release on on August 5, 201.

The Eagle of the Ninth is an upcoming sword and sandal movie directed by Kevin Macdonald and starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, Mark Strong, and Denis O’Hare. The film is set to be released in fall 2010. Focus Features released the first pictures of Eagle of the Ninth, take a look below:
Plot:
“In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Accompanied only by his British slave Esca (Jamie Bell), Marcus sets out across Hadrian’s Wall into the uncharted highlands of Caledonia – to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father’s memory, and retrieve the lost legion’s golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth.”
Hollywood is like obsessed with The Ninth Legion… The Eagle of the Ninth is just one more movie on this theme! And it will have to compete with Neil Marshall’s Centurion which is likely to be released sometime in the second half of 2010! But the Eagle of the Ninth movie can boast Channing Tattum in its cast. Well, I guess I’ll watch both movies anyway.

The Magazine Empire got their hands on a three new pictures of Shyamalan’s Last Airbender, the upcoming movie adaptation of the animated series Avatar The Last Airbender:
Plot:
“The story follows the adventures of Aang, a ten year old successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.”
Those 3 pictures of the Last Airbender are a nice addition to our growing collection:

If you haven’t seen the teaser trailer of the Last Airbender yet, here it is:

The Last Airbender movie will be the first opus of a trilogy.

Zoe Saldana told to MTV that Star trek 2, the movie sequel to Star Trek, would go into pre-production in fall or winter 2010:
“I spoke to J.J. and Bryan Burk, his producing partner at Bad Robot, and they are still in the middle of building the script with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and we’ll probably be going into pre-production around this time next year.”
Actress Zoe Saldana
Still no word about the plot of Star Trek 2… Against what enemy will Captain Kirk and the crew of the starship USS Enterprise will have to face off this time?

A new live-action Captain America movie is set to be released in July 2011. The film will directed by Joe Johnston (who helmed Jurassic Park 3, the upcoming Wolfman movie) based on a script written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Filming of Captain America should start in June 2010. So I guess the movie cast of Captain America will be officially announced in the coming months.
Plot:
“After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America’s ideals.”
Marvel has been slowly building up the buzz around Captain America with Easter-eggs hidden in the previous Marvel movies (like the Super-Soldier serum seen in Hulk, or Captain America’s shield briefly seen in Iron Man). So the movie Captain America, the first Avenger, has to be awesome otherwise the fans would be quite disappointed…
Anyway, who do you think would be the best fit to wield the shield of Captain America? Sam Worthington maybe?

The Lottery Ticket is an upcoming comedy movie directed by Eric White and starring Bow Wow, Ice Cube, and Brandon T. Jackson. The film should be released sometime in August 2010. Here below a first look at the movie:
(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)
Plot:
“Kevin Carson (Bow Wow), a young man living in the projects, wins $370 million in a nationwide lottery. When his opportunistic neighbors discover he has the winning ticket in his possession, Kevin must survive their greedy and sometimes even threatening actions over a three-day holiday weekend before he can claim his prize.”
Gambling and lottery are maybe a sin, but I must confess that I do play often… Unfortunately I still haven’t managed to get the jackpot so far…

Back in July Nicolas Cage said that the movie Ghost Rider 2 would be a kind of reboot, not really a sequel to the first film. Well, that’s now confirmed by Scriptwriter David Goyer (the guy behind the story of Batman Begins) whose script written 9 years ago has been selected for the film. He spoke to MTV in October:
“It’s not exactly a reboot. I hate to say it’s more realistic, because he’s got a flaming skull for a head, but it’s a bit more stripped down and darker. It’s definitely changing tone.
[…]
This story picks up eight years after the first film. You don’t have to have seen the first film. It doesn’t contradict anything that happened in the first film, but we’re pretending that our audience hasn’t seen the first film. It’s as if you took that same character where things ended in the first film and then picked it up eight years later—he’s just in a much darker, existential place.
[…]
My script is out there on the Internet, We’re not changing much from it. It’ll be significantly the same script.”
Scriptwriter David Goyer
Now that it’s been announced that David Goyer is in charge of the script of Ghost Rider 2 I guess more people will get interested in the sequel. If he can use the same recipe as he did for Batman Begins, then Ghost Rider 2 would become a huge success!

Actor Aaron Eckhart got the lead role in Battle Los Angeles, an upcoming sci-fi action movie directed by Jonathan Liebesman. The film follows a Marine platoon coping during a sudden and unexpected attack by an alien force. The film is somewhat inspired by a real event that took place in Los Angeles 1942. It involved a large-scale anti-aircraft artillery barrage against unidentified glowing targets. Japanese fire ballon or real aliens? It’s still a mystery:
BATTLE LOS ANGELES
But Jonathan Liebesman’s Battle of Los Angeles is only loosely based on the event, it’s not a period movie, and aliens are more than likely to show up:
Plot:
“When unknown forces put the City of Angels under attack, it is up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to come to the rescue. As the invasion hits the streets of L.A., the Marines become our first and last line of defense against a highly powerful enemy.”
Here’s a first look at Aaron Eckhart as a Marine Staff Sergeant Nantz:
(Click on the picture to enlarge it.)
In the movie Battle Los Angeles, Nantz leads his new platoon against the surprise attack, and attempts to rescue civilians in Santa Monica and destroy the hub of the enemy’s mysterious power grid, while similar epic battles are waged across the world in other cities…

The first opus of the Incredibles was released in 2004. It was welcome by the public and it kind of became cult. Because of Pixar’s previous policy of spitting on sequels there was little hope for a movie sequel to the Incredibles. But since Pixar has been acquired by Disney, that policy has changed. And sequels are definitely part of Pixar’s new road map (like Cars 2, or Toy Story 3). Does it mean that Incredibles 2 will enter into production soon? Well, unfortunately, not really… There is still a certain way of working at Pixar, and for a sequel to be greenlit, it must have been more or less validated by the director of the original film… So if the movie Incredibles 2 hasn’t been released yet it’s most likely because Director Brad Bird (who helmed the first Incredibles film) isn’t ready to do it yet…
Here’s what he said, back in 2007, about a potential Incredibles 2 movie:
“I love the world. I love the characters, and if I could come with a story that was as good or better than the original, I’d go there in a second. I have pieces of things that I would love to see in a sequel. But I haven’t got them all together yet. And I certainly wouldn’t want to come out there with something that is less than the original.”
Director Brad Bird
Maybe time that someone from Disney Pixar reminds him about Incredibles 2? Scores of fans are yearning for a sequel to the Incredibles!
Anyway, what plot would you suggest for the movie Incredibles 2?
:)
