The crazy girls from Sex and the City enjoyed our movie theaters and are coming back for a sequel! Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis have indeed signed for Sex and the City 2 along with writer-director-producer Michael Patrick King.

The whole is still a very early stage though: no official release date yet, and not even the draft of a script. But New Line president Toby Emmerich is confident that Sex and the City II would be released in Summer 2010…

The Basterds

– Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine aka “Aldo the Apache”: An illiterate hillbilly from the mountains of Tennessee, who puts together a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers. He bears a rope burn on his neck, which will never be mentioned in the film (the script hints that he might have survived a lynching). One of the film´s main protagonists: the character has been described as “a voluble, freewheeling outlaw” similar to Jules Winnfield from Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.

– Eli Roth as Sgt. Donnie Donowitz: “A baseball bat-swinging Nazi hunter” who is known as “The Bear Jew” among Nazis. Some of them seem to believe that Donowitz is in fact, a vengeful golem.

Denzel Washington got the lead role as Eli in the Book of Eli, an upcoming post-apocalyptic western movie. The film is directed the Hughes brothers and based on a script penned by Gary Whitta. Beside Denzel Washington, in the cats of the Book of Eli: Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson and Jennifer Beals. The film should be released in January 2010.

So Denzel Washington is going is going to bring order back in a back both with a book and a samurai sword: he’ll be like a super-Obama running a campaign set in a post-apocalyptic world where a samurai sword can be damn handy even if it is still not as mighty as the traditional pen!

The fact that a Rambo 5 is under negotiation is nothing new. But it is nice to have a direct confirmation from Sylvester Stallone himself. He broke the news on Extra, an entertainment magazine owned by Warner Bros, that a Rambo V movie is indeed ahead:

So we may expect a Rambo 5 movie in two or three years from now. No need to worry about Sly, he is still kicking and alive: just look a this picture of Stallone at 62 years old! He is incredibly fit for his age!

So let’s pray that filming of Rambo V will kick start soon!

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have acquired U.S. rights to the sci-fi animated movie Terra. The movie, which seems to be retitled Battle for Terra, will be released on May 1.

Despite many awards the film took time to get a theatrical release: it’s probably because most distribution companies were too lazy to try to find an original way to market Battle for Terra. It’s an animated movie, but real issues are raised, and in Battle for Terra the world isn’t black or white: it’s a mix of both like in real life.

Inglourious Basterds is the correctly misspelled title of Quentin Tarantino‘s latest movie. The film is inspired by the 1978 movie Inglorious Bastards. Brad Pitt and Melanie Laurent have the lead roles in a very large cast. Quentin Tarantino is working hard in order to premiere the film at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2009, but the official U.S. release is on August 21, 2009.
