Good Movie Trailer

Good Movie with Viggo Mortensen

Viggo Mortensen (who is also starring in The Road) is interpreting the lead role in the movie Good, a movie exploring the life of a normal German citizen who is embroiled in the Nazi scheme without really understanding the consequences… The movie Good, based on the stage play of the same name written by C. P. Taylor, is directed by Vicente Amorim. It is starring Jason Isaacs and Mark Strong besides Viggo Mortensen. Good is expected to be released on January 1, 2009.

Below the first official movie trailer of Good

A devoted father, a brilliant scholar, a lifelong friend

There are moments that change our lives forever

There are choices that make us who we are

There is a point of no return…

Viggo Mortensen, Jason Isaacs

GOOD

Plot:
“The rise of national socialism in Germany should not be regarded as a conspiracy of madmen. Millions of ‘good’ people found themselves in a society spiraling into terrible chaos.
John Halder (Mortensen) is one those “good” and is a decent individual with family problems: a neurotic wife, two demanding children and a mother suffering from senile dementia. A literary professor, Halder explores his personal circumstances in a novel advocating compassionate euthanasia. When the book is unexpectedly enlisted by powerful political figures in support of government propaganda, Halder finds his career rising in an optimistic current of nationalism and prosperity. Seemingly inconsequential decisions lead to choices, which lead to more choices… with eventually devastating effect.”

Viggo Mortensen - Good

I think I’m becoming found of Viggo Mortensen and his movies! His acting in Good sounds really credible. It makes the story damned real and makes you feel the dilemma the character is facing. An inner struggle that people are sadly still experiencing nowadays, just think of Kossovo, Darfur and others…

And to quote IMDb: “Good is film about then, which illuminates the terrors of now.”

Taylor Kitsch as Gambit in Wolverine

A picture of Taylor Kitsch as Gambit in the upcoming Wolverine movie, via Empire (the January 2009 issue is a must have!):

Taylor Kitsch is Gambit - Wolverine Movie

Wolverine Movie Trailer

Many are craving for a spin-off movie dedicated to gambit, but I’m not fan of the character. The idea of a stand-alone Gambit movie with Taylor Kitsch in the lead role would make the thing even less appealing… It would be definitely better if they keep their financial resources for Wolverine 2.

So let’s focus on a real Marvel hero: Wolverine!

Hugh Jackman is Logan aka Wolverine

If by any chance you know some Fox executives tell them to forget about the Gambit movie, and bring Wolverine 2!

A new poster for Valkyrie, upcoming World War 2 movie directed by Bryan Singer and starring Tom Cruise as Colonel Stauffenberg the German officer who unsuccessfully tried to assassinate the evil Hitler:

The target is Hitler

The plan is…

VALKYRIE

Based on the unknown true story

There are some missed opportunities throughout History for sure! Still, Operation Valkyrie, even if unsuccessful, is worth a movie: it gives a more tangible ground to the fact that Germany was not all Nazi.

Public Enemies Movie Pictures

Johnny Depp vs. Christian Bale - Public Enemies

Michael Mann is working on Public Enemies, a new gangster period movie starring Christian Bale and Johnny Depp respectively as FBI agent Melvin Purvis and Gangster John Dillinger. Take a look to those pictures of the movie Public Enemies:

Take your side: are you with the Dark Knight or with Jack Sparrow?

In real life I’d sign for sending John Dilinger to the electric chair, but in this movie, I can but take his side if his role is played by Johnny Depp: Depp is a so much better actor than Christian Bale!

Don’t miss the movie Public Enemies in July 2009!

The Road Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee

I just spotted a beautiful black and white picture of John Hillcoat‘s The Road, an upcoming post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie starring Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee:

The Road Movie

(Click on the picture to enlarge it.)
Viggo and Kodi in The Road
This father from The Road will do anything to protect his child!

For Viggo Mortensen , The Road is more than bleak imagery:

“I spoke with Cormac before we started shooting. […] I think what’s made this story so universally loved is because it’s really about protecting your child, no matter what the circumstances.
[…]
At its core, it’s a love story.”
Viggo Mortensen (in USA Today)

I totally agree with Viggo Mortensen! But maybe as a father I’m positively biased for the movie The Road!

Happy Thanksgiving 2008

Guillermo Del Toro Hobbit Movie

The Hobbit Movie

Director Guillermo Del Toro knows he’s been entrusted a real responsibility with the movie adaptation of The Hobbit, check those interviews made a while ago:

We are all longing for a new movie saga based on J.R.R. Tolkien‘s fantasy novels! Let’s hope that Guillermo Del Toro will bring us a great Hobbit movie! 2011, the scheduled year of release for the Hobbit movie, seems so far suddenly!

Woody Allen Whatever Works Movie Pictures

Whatever Works Movie

Woody Allen is studying love further, in his own way, with Whatever Works, a new romance comedy movie. The film, written and directed by Woody Allen, is starring Larry David, Patricia Clarkson and Evan Rachel Wood. It is scheduled to be released in early 2009.

Whatever Works Movie Trailer

Here below a first look at the movie Whatever Works:

(Click on the picture to enlarge it.)

Plot:
“Whatever Works revolves around an eccentric man (Larry David) taken into a series of adventures and encounters with his friends from Greenwich, a young woman from the South (Evan Rachel Wood), and her parents.”

Below the trailer of Whatever Works:

WHATEVER WORKS

I’m dying! I mean, not now… Eventually!

The movie was filmed in New York City: it marks the return of Woody Allen to the city of his heart after a four film sojourn in Europe. And judging from those pictures of the movie Whatever Works he is going to film the real New York.

Real people, real world, and a funny twisted story; that’s the very fabric of Woody Allen’s movies. With this surprising director Whatever works!

Public Enemies Movie With Christian Bale and Johnny Depp

The January 2009 issue of Empire Magazine will definitely be worth buying: besides the Wolverine cover, there is a first look at Christian Bale and Johnny Depp in the movie Public Enemies.

Christian Bale and Johnny Depp in Public Enemies

Plot:
“The Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s.” (Source: IMDb)

The movie Public Enemies is directed by Michael Mann and should be released on July 1, 2009. Let’s have a closer look to the cast of Public Enemies:

Cast:
Johnny Depp as John Dillinger: An American bank robber whose exploits dominated the press during what is sometimes referred to as the public enemy era, between 1931 and 1935.
Christian Bale as Melvin Purvis: An FBI agent chosen by J. Edgar Hoover to lead a manhunt to catch Dillinger.
Marion Cotillard as Billie Frechette: Dillinger’s torch singer girlfriend.
Channing Tatum as Pretty Boy Floyd: An American bank robber and alleged killer.

Public Enemies has an impressive cast. I hope Director Michael Mann has been able to manage such a cast to give us a great period gangster movie.

Wolverine Trailer in front of The Day The Earth Stood Still

Wolverine MovieA Wolverine trailer will be official shown in front of The Day The Earth Stood Still in early December. It has just been announced via Coming Soon.

wolverine Trailer

I guess people will rush to theaters with even more enthusiasm! Hey, an awesome movie starring Keanu Reeves, and a trailer of Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman: that’s definitely something not to miss!

I wonder if this new Wolverine movie trailer will be the same as the one that leaked online a while ago… More probably a new Wolverine trailer I think.

The Uninvited Remake of A Tale of Two Sisters

A Tale of two Sisters Original Movie

The Uninvited, upcoming horror movie starring Emily Browning and Arielle Kebbel, is but the remake of a Koran movie. And the original movie, titled A Tale of Two Sisters, was quite good actually, take a look to the trailer of the original movie at:

The version that will be released by Hollywood is less intense. But still worth watching because the two lead actresses are quite cute:

Whiteout Movie with Kate Beckinsale and Gabriel Macht

Whitehout Movie Teaser Poster
Whiteout is an upcoming movie adaptation of the 1999 comic book by writer Greg Rucka and artist Steve Lieber. The film is directed by Dominic Sena and is starring Kate Beckinsale and Gabriel Macht in the lead roles. The action thriller Whiteout is slated to be released on September 11, 2009.

Whiteout Movie directed by Dominic Sena

Here below a first look at Kate Beckinsale and Gabriel Macht in the movie Whiteout:

Kate Beckinsale Whiteout movieKate Beckinsale, Gabriel Macht, Columbus Short in the movie Whiteout

Plot:
“A U.S. marshal (Kate Beckinsale), the only one assigned to Antarctica, must investigate a murder on the frozen continent within three days before the arctic winter begins. She crosses paths with a U.N. operative (Gabriel Macht), also investigating the murder.” (Source: Wikipedia)

The film is primarily set in a bright world of ice and sunlight, an unconventional approach to the murder mystery genre. Both real and fake snow were used in production.

Even if the plot is set in Antartica it does not make the film that much exceptional so far… I hope there will be some good acting to complete the landscape…

But for once the original author of the graphic novel, Greg Rucka, applauded the film adaptation of his source material (not like the bitter Allan Moore about the Watchmen movie). So there is reason to hope for Whiteout!

World of Warcraft Movie

World of Warcraft Movie

MTV has talked to Frank Pearce, VP of product development at Blizzard Entertainment. And he confirmed that there is a World of Warcraft movie in development.

Warcraft Movie Trailer

“Legendary Pictures is currently trying to assign some names to write the screenplay and find someone to direct it, so it’s still really early in production, they want to make sure they get the right talent for those different parts, especially the screenwriting, because that’s the foundation for the movie.”
Frank Pearce, VP of product development at Blizzard Entertainment

And it looks like it won’t be be all CGI, we should rather expect a live action World of Warcraft movie:

[The idea of a complete CGI movie] has come up in discussions but it’s not something we’ve really considered because it takes so long to generate just the brief amount of footage that we create for the game. […] That department’s focus is creating the footage for the games to tell the story; it would be a huge undertaking and it’s not really something that we’re ready to do anytime soon.”
Frank Pearce, VP of product development at Blizzard Entertainment

If such an epic fantasy/adventure movie based on the popular video game series is ever released it would be a massive box office success! Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the movie World of Warcraft to happen soon!
