Comments Off on Harry Potter Half Blood Prince New Pictures
Some pictures of Harry Potter 6, aka Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, have been released through USA TODAY (here): (Click on a picture to enlarge it.)
God bless the Internet: the trailer of The Day The Earth Stood Still, upcoming sci-fi movie starring Keanu Reeves that should be released in December 2008, has found its way online. And in quite good quality:
Keanu Reeves was a good choice: he’s quite good. To a certain extent judging from the glimpse we had Keanu Reeves seems as good as Michael Rennie the actor playing Klaatu in the original 1957 movie.
And in case you missed it, like said in comments, one may see GORT at the end of the Earth Stood Still trailer: :)
Vicky Cristina Barcelona Comedy/Drama/Romance Directed by Woody Allen Starring Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Rebecca Hall, Joan Pera Release Date: August 15, 2008
The trailer of the Day The Earth Stood Still has been shown in front of Hancock in some theaters. But the trailer isn’t yet available online. The buzz is growing though: I can see in my logs that many people connect looking for the Day The Earth Stood Still trailer.
To help you wait a bit here below a first look at Keanu Reeves as Klaatu the ambassador from outer space:
And I just spotted a really interesting comment on AMC site left by a visitor musing about the origin of “Klaatu barada nikto!” the famous catch-phrase used by Klaatu in the 1957 version of The day The Earth Stood Still to switch off Gort the robot:
Actually, nikto (or никто in Russian) means ‘nobody’ or ‘no one’. This actually makes more sense. There isn’t really a Russian counterpart for Barada when comparing based on the way she pronounces it. However, the Russian word ‘БОРЬБА’ means ‘fight’. It is pronounced buhr-BAH. Also, when the word is written using cursive or a script font, the ‘Б’ letter looks like lower-case roman ‘d’. This is pure speculation, but the writer(s) could have looked up the word for fight in a Russian dictionary (or some other Slavic language) and seen ‘БОРЬБА’ and figured it was pronounced “barada”. My guess is that it means “Gort! Klaatu says fight no one!”

I didn’t find full confirmation of this theory but there is no denying that it sounds credible. Gaddio you’re smart!
Quite impatient to see the trailer of the Day The Earth Stood Still me too. So sad I went too late to the theater when going to watch Hancock, was stuck in traffic jam. :-(
Henry Poole Is Here Comedy/Drama Directed by Mark Pellington Starring Luke Wilson, Radha Mitchell, George Lopez, Morgan Lily Release Date: August 15, 2008
This straight-to-DVD release will be helpful to wait for the Dark Knight. Batman Gotham Knight is indeed awesome by itself, check this intense crossfire clip to be convinced:

I supose you’re going to order your Batman Gotham Knight DVD, aren’t you? ;-p
Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D is maybe the start of a new paradigm for the cinema industry. Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D is indeed the first live action movie to use the latest 3D tricks.
Alex (Josh Hutcherson): Have you ever seen a dinosaur before? Trevor (Brendan Fraser): Not with skin on it!
If you’re lucky enough to have a 3d-capable theater nearby you’ll fully enjoy this movie! (Traditional theaters will be able to show Journey 3D too, but you would not appreciate it as much as in a real 3D theater…)
Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D is starring Brendan Fraser. :)
Director Fernando Meirelles is coming up with Blindness, a new movie based on the novel of the same name by Nobel Laureate Jose Saramago. A new Blindness poster has been unveiled: (Click on the poster to enlarge it.)
