A promotional clip has been released for Coraline, the upcoming movie adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s book. The writer is helping to the promotion of the movie. In the clip below he dwells on Koumpounophobia, the phobia of buttons:
“I often think that the greatest of human inventions is the humble button.”
Neil Gaiman
The story of Coraline is about a young girl who finds a secret door and discovers an alternate version of her life on the other side. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life and the people in it – only much better although they’ve got buttons instead of eyes… But when this seemingly perfect world turns dangerous, and her other parents (including her Other Mother voiced by Teri Hatcher) try to trap her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to escape this increasingly perilous world – and save her family.

A telekinetic fight, with fighters able to use their mind to move and throw stuff around, should be really nasty. But in the movie Push fighters aren’t that wicked… This second clip of Push just show one more tame fight between Chris Evans and Neil Jackson who are both movers:
Well fortunately telekinesy is just a fantasy because I’m sure that some wicked minds would be much more efficient in using such an ability to harm others than they do in the movie…
Someone attending the 2009 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) was brave enough to turn on his camera phone while watching a preview clip of Pixar’s UP. So thanks to him we may enjoy below this bootleg clip of UP that just leaked online:
It does not feel as a usual Pixar movie, but still I’d be glad to watch the movie UP. I hope the voice of Russell, the kid, won’t be as deep in the final cut though…

Sonja (Rhona Mitra) and Lucian (Michael Sheen) try to escape.
Sonja (Rhona Mitra) is battling against Viktor (Bill Nighy).
The main characters of Underworld 3 are:
– Michael Sheen as Lucian (Enslaved as a baby, Lucian has only been able to imagine the full extent of his Lycan powers. In the evolution from werewolf to Lycan, Lucian feels the responsibility of the Lycan race resting on his shoulders. At the same time, his love for the vampire, Sonja, complicates his desire for freedom from the Vampires.) – Rhona Mitra as Sonja (Sonja is the daughter of the powerful Vampire Elder, Viktor. Beautiful and brave, her nightly patrols defend the Coven from the hoards of ferocious werewolves. Despite her father’s hatred for the Lycan race, she has fallen in love with the Lycan slave, Lucian. She battles between the desire to fulfill the responsibilities that come with her lineage and her willful nature. Because of her love for Lucian, she is sympathetic to the enslaved Lycans’ plight.)
– Bill Nighy as Viktor (One of three ruling Vampire Elders, Viktor is a haughty, ostentatious Vampire overlord nearly 1,000 years old. Like most Vampires, he has a severe loathing for Lycans but also a fascination with their unique strengths. Through slavery and torture, he has created a small but mighty force of enslaved Lycans. Despite his best efforts to govern the Coven, the Council members have begun to question his leadership.)
Plus a short scene for Kate Beckinsale:
– Kate Beckinsale as Selene (Beckinsale did not film new footage, a scene from Underworld will be used to bookend the film)
Opening this Friday, Underworld Rise of the Lycans is the third Underworld movie directed by Patrick Tatopoulos.

Director Duncan Jones must be fan of science fiction like his father David Bowie. Jones is indeed bring us Moon, an appealing science-fiction movie full of references. It is starring Sam Rockwell in the lead role and Kevin Spacey is lending his voice to the Lunar base AI. We may watch a few Moon preview clips thanks to Collider (here) and Omelete:
Sam I can only account for what occurs on the base.
This AI with its electronic eye is like a tribute to Writer Arthur C. Clarke and to Director Stanley Kubrick in a reference to HAL9000 in ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’. I am really impressed by the quality of the set and all its details. Sam Rockwell’s performance is also remarkable: he’s playing two roles at once with a real talent.
To help you better understand what’s going in plot, here’s an extract of the synopsis:
“But 2 weeks shy of his departure from Selene, Sam starts seeing things, hearing things and feeling strange. And when a routine extraction goes horribly wrong, he discovers that Lunar have their own plans for replacing him and the new recruit is eerily familiar.
Before he can return to Earth, Sam has to confront himself and the discovery that the life he has created, may not be his own. It’s more than his contract that is set to expire.”
Some may think that the pace of the movie a bit slow, but I think it’s a strength for such a sci-fi movie: it will render the movie experience even more realistic!
I’m damn impatient to watch Moon! Where can I buy my own Kevin Spacey AI robot? that’s better than a pet! And ifs it can run the Lunar base then it could run my house cleaning!

An ultimate movie trailer of Outlander, upcoming science-fiction movie directed by Howard McCain and starring James Caviezel, Sophia Myles and, Ron Perlman, has shown up just before the final release of the film on January 23, 2009:

It’s been a long road for Outlander to be released in the USA: but if we can believe this trailer then the Outlande movie is going to be explosive. I love the high-tech suit Jesus (James Caviezel) is wearing at the beginning of this trailer!
Oh my God! I definitely have to go see Outlander when it’s in theaters next week!

An extended preview clip of Push, upcoming science-fiction movie starring Chris Evans Dakota Fanning, Camilla Belle and, Djimon Hounsou, has been released:
This clip of Push features a fight between Chris Evans and Neil Jackson who are both movers (they can move objects thanks to their telekinetic ability). It’s also hinting at Djimon Hounsou’s power, he’s a pusher: he can push thoughts into the minds of other people making them believe they’re real and changing their memories.
Push looks a bit like a make up movie: I mean with such powers, fights should be damn nasty and much more bloody disgusting!

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are going on the road again for the new Fast and Furious movie, aka Fast and Furious 4. Here below the latest official Fast and Furious trailer:
Thta’s a real action pack trailer: the new Fast and Furious movie is going to impress! The Soulja Boy song, with the drums has probably been chosen to link to Jamaica where some part of the movie plot takes place, but I’m not a fan of this music… Anyway, if the soundtrack of Fast and Furious is just a bit more thought than in this second trailer it shall be fine.
Please, for the next fast and Furious trailer could we have more cars and girls? Action that’s fine: but girls and cars that’s even better! After that’s what we’re looking for in the Fast and Furious movies, aren’t we?

The first official trailer of Transformers 2 was said to be released in February. And we thought that the recent teaser poster of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen was a good sign. Looks like the gods of Hollywood and Director Michael Bay won’t disappoint us: it is now confirmed that a Transformers 2 trailer will be released for the Superbowl 2009.
The Hurt Locker is an upcoming award winning war movie directed by Kathryn Bigelow. The story is based on recently declassified information about an elite Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team in present day Iraq. It also incorporates observations from journalist/screenwriter Mark Boal, who was embedded with troops. The film was filmed in Jordan, so you feel like it was done in the heat of Irak.
The Hurt Locker is starring Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Guy Pearce and Ralph Fiennes. Summit Entertainment should release the Hurt Locker movie in Spring of 2009.
Here below the first movie trailer of the Hurt Locker:
THE HURT LOCKER
From the director of Point Break
Plot:
“In Iraq, an elite Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit is forced to play a dangerous game of cat and mouse in the chaos of war in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb. Staff Sergeant William James (Jeremy Renner), the leader of the EOD team, has to deal not only with defusing bombs in the backdrop of a war but also with the psychological and emotional strain that it inflicts.”
Cast:
– Jeremy Renner as Staff Sergeant William James
– Anthony Mackie as Sergeant JT Sanborn
– Brian Geraghty as Specialist Owen Eldridge
– Guy Pearce as Sergeant Matt Thompson
– Ralph Fiennes as Contractor Team Leader
– David Morse as Colonel Reed
It looks like an awesome movie, even if some scenes are exaggerated.
Movies depicting the war in Iraq are like a necessary catharsis that help to better understand what happened over there.
