Director Lasse Hallstrom is bringing us Hachiko A Dog Story, an upcoming drama family movie based on the true story of a Japanese professor and his dog: it’s the tale of a dog’s life-long devotion to his owner. The film is starring Richard Gere in the lead role. It is scheduled to be released on August 8, 2009 in Japan (under the working title Hachi), so Hachiko A Dog’s Story should be released by the end of 2009 or early 2010 in the USA.
Plot:
“A college professor (Richard Gere) takes in an abandoned dog, Hachi, and they form an unbreakable bond. After the professor dies while away from home, the dog keeps vigil waiting for his master for nearly a decade.”
The story of Hachiko is well known in Japan: the dog even has his own statue in front of the Shibuya train station! So Richard Gere’s Hashiko is much awaited over there.
If you’re wondering about the dog race, er, I mean the dog breed, it’s an akita.
Such a cute and such a sad Story: I’m gonna cry shamelessly!

The Gatchaman movie that was once scheduled to be released in 2009 has been postponed to 2010 due to some financial woes that slow down Imagi. But at least it hasn’t been canceled so far. Proof is this new poster of the movie Gatchman:

Looks like the guys at Imagi know what they’re doing: this Gatchman looks damn appealing! For once there could be a movie studio that betters the original source material instead of spitting on it like FOx did with its DB movie!
Some kids who helped for some charity have been repaid for their kindness by a visit to the movie set of Harry Potter 7, aka Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. They were able to meet Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (as Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley)!

And it’s been announced that the premiere of this new Star trek movie will be in Australia, in Sydney Opera House’s legendary Concert Hall on April 7. Director/producer J.J. Abrams and cast members Eric Bana, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Karl Urban will present the film to 1,600 lucky guests.
I wish I ‘d be among those lucky bastards… Even if to do so I’d have to confront Australian customs services once again , and God knows they are the worst nitpicky people on Earth! Anyway, too bad i’m not invited to the premiere of Star Trek.

SGU, Stargate Universe, is the latest addition to the Stargate franchise: the new show will start to air on SyFy this summer. A SGU trailer was shown after the final episode of Battlestar Galactica last Friday:
“Stargate Universe aims to delight veteran fans, but also appeal to newcomers who may not necessarily know the difference between an Alteran and an Asuran. In many ways it is a much more cerebral and mature addition to the franchise. While firmly entrenched in pre-established Stargate mythology, Stargate Universe definitely strikes out in an exciting new direction.”
Stargate Atlantis producer Joseph Mallozzi
I expect Stargate Universe to be a mix of Farscape and BSG set in the realm of Stargate. Could be something explosive, hope they won’t disappoint us!

A new theatrical trailer of the Year One, upcoming comedy starring Jack Black and Michael Cera, has been released:
YEAR ONE
Jack Black and Michel Cera
For the very first road trip!
Plot:
“When a couple of lazy hunter-gatherers (Jack Black and Michael Cera) are banished from their primitive village, they set off on an epic journey through the ancient world.” (source IMDb)
I would not dare to knock on my wife’s head like this dude did on the girl’s head at the beginning of this Year One movie trailer!
Director Harold Ramis’ Year One will hit theaters on June 19, 2009.

Skynet and its Terminators want to annihilate mankind. But we won’t give them a free reign. Like on this latest movie poster of Terminator Salvation, showing a man (probably John Connor) carrying a Terminator head in his hand:
Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) are still at odds over a few issues after five years. Even Toretto’s sister bears a grudge against O’Conner. Just watch this new movie clip of Fast and Furious:
After Five Years
Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) tries to warn off Mia (Jordana Brewster) and apologize for the past.
U-Turn If Possible
Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) won’t let running out of road stop him from chasing Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel).
