The Expendables Movie Pics

Sylvester StalloneNew pictures of The Expendables, the upcoming action starring Sylvester Stallone and a bunch of other strong dudes like Jason Statham and Jet Li:

I think we may describe The Expendables as Stallone’s version of Inglorious Bastards but set in our time and located in some Latin America country. And also with mercenaries instead of cons turned soldiers.

Jonah Hex Movie

Director Jimmy Hayward is bringing the movie Jonah Hex, based on the character published by DC Comics. The film can be described as a a spaghetti western that includes voodoo and zombies. It is starring Josh Brolin, John Malkovich and Megan Fox. The movie Jonah Hex is set for a release on June 18, 2010.

Jonah Hex Movie Trailer

We may have a first look at Josh Brolin as the anti-hero Jonah Hex:

Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex - Jonah Hex MoviePlot:
“Bounty hunter Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) in the late 19th century is tracking down voodoo practitioner Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich), who plans to free the Confederate South with an army of the undead.”

Movie Cast:
– Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex, a disfigured bounty hunter.
– John Malkovich as Quentin Turnbull, Jonah Hex’s nemesis.
– Megan Fox as Leila, a gun-wielding beauty and Jonah Hex’s love interest.

With John Malkovich in its cast besides the sweet Megan Fox, this movie can but catch my attention. And from the premise of the film it is clear that it won’t be our grand-father but rather a western zombie fest! What an amazing concept!

Hope to get a preview clip of the movie Jonah Hex soon.

Tron Legacy Movie

Walt Disney Pictures has finally revealed what is (let’s hope!) the final title of the Tron 2 movie. It will be titled Tron Legacy. Here’s a picture of the new logo:

Update: here’s the trailer of Tron legacy:

TRON LEGACY TRAILER

Tron Legacy

(Click on the picture to enlarge it.)
Tron legacy MoviePlot of Tron Legacy:
“Tron is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.”

It’s indeed about legacy with Tron 2: besides the original cast being back, the plot is focusing on the son of Kevin Flynn the hero of the first movie. So the official title of Tron Legacy for the movie Tron 2 isn’t that bad. But would have been better to stick to a title as simple as Tron 2!

Transformers 3 Mini-Cons

Transformers fans are begging for Unicron (Unicron is a a nearly omnipotent robot/planetoid, a kind of Galactus) to appear in Transformers 3, the next Transformers movie sequel. But that’s unlikely to happen according to Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura who spoke his mind to IGN (here):

Transformers 3 Unicron

“Unicron worries me because it’s so big that it dwarves emotion. It’s so hard, because when you’re working to that scale, it sort of becomes outside any kind of human reality you have. It’s obviously a great character, and one that we’re definitely going to talk about, but for me personally – and I’m not the only vote here – that one scares me. Because of its size, it becomes sort of impersonal when it gets to that scale. […] And for me that worries me because I like the human characters.”

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura

But on the other hand Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has been praising the Mini-Cons stating that they’re really cool!

“I love the Mini-Cons actually – I think they’re very cool. I love the lore.”

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura

The Mini-Cons are a race of small, roughly human-sized Transformers capable of combining with a larger Transformer to impart extra abilities or greatly increase their strength.

Would love to see those mini-cons in Transformers 3: it would promise gorgeous scenes with robotic transformations! So yes, please Dear Mr. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, please bring in the mini-cons for the movie Transformers 3! I beg you! We all do!

GI Joe 2 Movie

GI Joe 2 MovieDirector Stephen Sommers composedly announced that there will be a movie sequel to GI joe during a conference in Australia. I guess it’s good news because the first movie is actually setting things for something much better ahead. From the tidbits that leaked online we know indeed that the upcoming GI Joe Rise of Cobra movie is a kind of Origins story for Cobra Commander.

GI Joe 2 – GI Joe Movie Sequel

At the beginning of the GI Joe movie Cobra Commander (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is actually called the Doctor. He’s working for James McCullen who’s a the head of the powerful company MARS.

GI JOE II Movie

But at the end the Doctor becomes the Cobra Commander we know, an evil genius all powerful and damn Machiavellian, and James McCullen can but step down to become Cobra’s minion under the name of Destro (Cobra gifts him with a mask made of nanocytes).

Cobra Commander and his minion Destro – GI JOE 2

The yet-to-be-released GI Joe is suffering from some bad buzz online, can understand this by looking at the poor CGI of the exoskeletons… But I guess it won’t hinder GI Joe from being a blockbuster: lot of action, plenty of special effects, and the whole thing based on a famous franchise, you bet people are going to watch it in theaters. I know I will! Can’t miss that!

But I’m much more thrilled by GI Joe 2! The origins of Cobra are maybe interesting but what I want, and I guess GI Joe fans too, is to see a full-fledged Cobra Army with its mighty Machiavellian commander at its head.

GI Joe can be a hell of of a movie if they do things right. Could be a perfect mix of action and science-fiction!

So let’s hope that Director Stephen Sommers will have the means to bring us this GI Joe 2 movie!
:)

Saw VII Movie

It has been confirmed that Scriptwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton will pen the screenplay of the movie Saw 7. So we may expect the same kind o twisted traps as in the previous Saw movies. And because the legend never dies, Actor Tobin Bell is back too, as the insane Jigsaw, he will be appear through flashbacks I suppose (actually Tobin Bell said he’ll keep his role till at least the movie Saw 8).

Saw VII Trailer

The director of Saw 7 hasn’t been announced, but we may fairly bet that it will be Editor-turned-Director Kevin Greutert (who directed the yet-to-be-released Saw 6 movie). But he may have to share the helm with Scriptwriter Marcus Dunstan, who made his directorial debut this year with The Collector. Update: David hackl is back to direct Saw VII

Saw VII Movie - Saw 7Regarding the release date of Saw 7: nothing official yet, Lionsgate will probably respect the tradition and release Saw 7 in October 2010.

Any suggestion to Marcus Dunstan Patrick Melton? What do you want to see in the movie Saw VII?

Warcraft Movie

Warcraft Movie directed by Sam Raimi

It’s been announced by Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and Legendary Pictures that the World of Warcraft movie ahead of us will be directed by Sam Raimi (who brought us the Spiderman movies).

Warcraft Trailer

“At its core, ‘Warcraft’ is a fantastic, action-packed story. I am thrilled to work with such a dynamite production team to bring this project to the big screen.”

Director Sam Raimi

Fortunately they hire someone with a good track to tackle the live-action movie adaptation of Warcraft. But let’s hope that Sam Raimi will keep in mind that Warcraft isn’t the same as a comic book. The huge universe of Warcraft is a rich fantasy setting that revolves around the epic conflict between the opposing forces of the Horde and the Alliance (to keep it simple: think Humans vs Orcs). It’s a kind of Lord of the Ring world, but I’d say with more action and politics.

Warcraft doesn’t have a fandom, it has followers, like a religion may have. So Director Sam Raimi should really think twice before starting the project: I wouldn’t want to piss off Warcrfaft gamers if I was Sam Raimi…

So Director Sam Raimi, if you don’t want to have to watch your back all your life, you’d better make a great Warcraft movie!

Iron Man 2 Pics

We got our hands on a new series of pictures of Iron Man 2, the upcoming movie sequel to Ron Man directed by Jon Favreau:

(click on a picture to enlarge it.)

About the cast of Iron Man 2:
– Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark aka Iron Man
– Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes aka War Machine
– Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts
– Scarlett Johansson as Russian spy Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow
– Sam Rockwell as weapons manufacturer Justin Hammer (the guy with glasses next to Don Cheadle)
– Mickey Rourke as the villain Ivan Vanko aka Whiplash

Between Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) I can’t decide! It’s gonna be hard for Tony Stark aka Iron Man to keep focus with such beautiful women around.

Nizam (Ben Kingsley) is King Shahrman’s brother who plans to kill the ruler and blame the murder on Prince Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal).

Such a contrast between Jake Gyllenhaal’s long hair and Ben Kingsley’s baldness…

Rapunzel Movie

Rapunzel MovieWalt Disney is bringing another classic to life: the movie Rapunzel, based on the classic German fairy tale Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm, is indeed being produced. It will be a CGI animated movie, but Disney intends indeed to create the impression of a drawing, non-photorealistic rendering is going to be used, making the surface look like it is painted but still containing depth and dimensions.

The movie Rapunzel is set for a release on Christmas 2010.

Here below two concept arts of the movie Rapunzel:

(Click on a picture to enlarge it.)

Plot:
“After a retooling, the film will be based again on the literary origins of the famous fairy tale, in the veins of Classics like ‘Snow White’ and ‘Cinderella’: described as a traditional, character-driven fairy tale it will speak to a modern audience, with a different new style of its own.”

I guess many women would kill to know Rapunzel’s secret to have so long silky golden hair. Maybe it will be revealed in the movie Rapunzel!
