Plot:
“An extraterrestrial race forced to live in slum-like conditions on Earth suddenly find a kindred spirit in a government agent that is exposed to their biotechnology.
The aliens are called the ‘Non-Humans’ and are forced to work the Multi National United company (MNU for short). A kind of apartheid discriminating the non-humans has been enforced. Throughout the film, the Non-Humans will try to free themselves from MNU’s grasp.”

The movie District 9 is starring Jason Cope, Robert Hobbs and Sharlto Copley. It will be released on August 14, 2009.

Director Christian Alvart’s upcoming movie release is Pandorum in September 2009. But we will also hear about him for an earlier movie he directed: Case 39. It’s an horror movie starring Renee Zellweger and Jodelle Ferland.

The plot of Case 39 does bring anything really new. But it’s surprising to see Renee Zellweger acting in this horror movie. So I must admit that I want to see how Case 39 plays out.

Strangely there is no word yet about the release date of Case 39. But Paramount is in charge of distributing it, so sooner or later Case 39 will hit theaters.

Sci Fi Wire talked to producer Lauren Shuler Donner about the spin-off Magneto movie, here what she said:

She also confirmed that the development of Magneto depends on the success of Wolverine.

I don’t worry much then: Wolverine will rock the box-office and we will get a Magneto movie. They definitely have to film the screenplay drafted by Scriptwriter Sheldon Turner. The synopsis of Magneto that was released earlier was quite promising indeed:

The movie “All The Boys Love Mandy Lane’ finally gets a release date in the USA. Well, actually it’s but a limited release… which is quite surprising when you think about the quality of this movie: it’s a fresh take on the teen slasher genre!

Anyway, here’s Mandy Lane release date: it’s on July 17, 2009.

Plot:
“Sixteen-year-old Mandy Lane (Amber Heard) is an unattainable girl, everyone’s object of desire. In an attempt to advance her position in the social pecking order, the gorgeous track star shuns her old friend Emmet, an awkward outsider. She’s in with the cool kids now, and surely they don’t want her hanging with the freak. Mandy’s new ‘friends’ invite her out to a family ranch for the weekend and she agrees, seeing it as an excellent opportunity to cement her new friendships. The mutant Cajun is likely to get his own spin-off movie. Such a move by Marvel would make sense because Gambit can boast quite a large following among Comic book fans. This mutant can use kinetic energy to stylishly throw supercharged cards at his enemies. He’s got a real panache and laddies fall for him more than often.

The upcoming Wolverine movie is introducing the character (played by Taylor Kitsch):

It is said that Taylor Kitsch signed for three films. So we may bet that Gambit will have his own spin-off live action movie.

Nothing official yet though. And because of the impressive line-up of movies based on Marvel’s heroes in the coming years, it won’t be released any time soon…

Nice to see Robert Pattinson in such a role: he may play the role of Edward the manly vampire in Twilight but he isn’t afraid to pass for queer as Dali in Little Ashes (can’t say he is a protean actor for doing this though: Robert Pattinson looks indeed quite natural in this role… not saying that he’s gay, but…)

Zombie slayer Alice (Milla Jovovich) will be back for a fourth installment of Resident Evil! Paul W.S. Anderson is indeed damn decided to produce the Resident Evil 4, aka Resident Evil Afterlife (or Biohazard Afterlife in Japan). Filming is scheduled to start this fall 2009. So it should be released during the second half of 2010.

The story of Resident Evil 4 should take place in Tokyo in Japan and in Alaska (with Toronto standing in for Alaska, is guess that even with the crisis it still cheaper to film in canada…). Patrick Tatopoulos will return and be in charge of the creature effects while Michael Lantieri will be the new Special FX supervisor (in terms of the practical effects).

Bloody disgusting scenes of zombies feasting on human bodies ahead for sure! But I hope that Resident Evil 4 will find a better balance between pure action and plot…

Anyway I’ll still enjoy watching Alice (Milla Jovovich) smashing crazy bloodthirsty zombies in the movie Resident Evil 4!
