Lionsgate announced that a new trailer of New Moon will be shown in front of the teen movie Bandslam which hits theaters this week on August 14, 2009.
And a 14-second tease of the new trailer will be airing nationwide, starting Tuesday, August 11th.

This early draft of New Moon’s script is pretty good, and I think there is a potential for reeaching a larger public than the first Twilight movie did. That’s probably why Director Chris Weitz was hired in the first place too.

The full cast list of the Twilight Saga New Moon, aka twilight 2, has been announced by Summit Entertainment. We knew already for Dakota fanning as Jane and Michael Sheen as Aro. But the final cast of New Moon is still including some new actors: Daniel Cudmore as Felix, Christopher Heyerdahl as Marcus, Charlie Bewley as Demetri, Cameron Bright as Alec, and Graham Greene as Harry Clearwater.
Let’s learn more about their roles in the movie New Moon:
 Graham Greene as Harry ClearwaterHarry Clearwater was a tribal elder of the Quileute tribe, and father of Seth Clearwater and Leah Clearwater. He was also a close friend of Charlie Swan’s and the two of them shared a love of fishing. Harry was happily married to Sue Clearwater until he died of heart attack during New Moon. |
 Christopher Heyerdahl as MarcusMarcus is one of three vampires in Italy who live what Edward described as a very civilized and educated lifestyle. Carlisle found them while on his own search for the truth behind his nature. The Italian vampires tried to cure Carlisle of “his aversion to his natural food source,” but they failed. Their likeness was depicted in several painting by Solimena. |
 Daniel Cudmore as FelixFelix is one of the guards of the Volturi. He is a violent person who is very strict and enjoys serving out punishment to people who disobey the Volturi laws – during New Moon, he is one of the members of the guard who attempts to kill Edward Cullen for the crime of exposing the vampire race (a crime which he found was not committed). |
 Cameron Bright as AlecAlec is a member of the Volturi and is one of the highest ranked guards. He has a sister named Jane (played by Dakota Fanning). Alec has an extremely powerful gift which is equally powerful as his twin Jane’s. He has the ability to cut off a person’s senses. He can make them blind, deaf, and numb to any feeling if he wishes to. When he uses his gift, it appears in the form of a clear hazy mist. |

Michael Sheen, best known for playing the role of Lucian the werewolf (actually a lycan) in the Underworld movie series, has been officially confirmed in the cast of in the upcoming movie Twilight 2, aka New Moon. But this time he is going to play the role of a vampire as Aro, the leader of an Italian vampire clan called the Volturi.
Aro is one of three vampires who lead the Volturi. He is widely accepted as the overall leader of the Volturi. Aro is blessed with superhuman strength and speed, and has vastly enhanced senses. He also possesses the supernatural ability to read minds; his ability is far more powerful than even Edward Cullens’, as he is capable of hearing every thought a person has ever had. However, he requires physical contact to use this ability, and cannot read minds from a distance.
Summit Entertainment and Director Chris Weitz said that they had to chase Michael Sheen for him to sign on as Aro. Chris Weitz is quite glad to get this actor on board the New Moon movie, and highlights the importance of Sheen’s role:
So let’s hope that this actor will be really committed to the success of the Twilight Saga New Moon beyond his paycheck… I mean, Michael Sheen is a star but he has to show respect and modesty in front of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga. I suppose that Chris Weitz wants Michael Sheen in the cast in order the movie New Moon to appeal to a larger public.

It’s impressive how much Taylor Lautner bulk up to be fit for the role of Jacob Black the werewolf in the movie twilight 2!
But muscles won’t be enough for him to steal the show from Robert Pattinson who plays the role of Edward the romantic vampire. Even if Edward will have less screen time in the movie New Moon, I bet the scenes he will have will be much more significant than Jacob’s scenes!
beyond the cat fight over Robert Pattinson vs Taylor Lautner, I think that Peter Facinelli who portrays Dr. Carlisle Cullen is a really good fit for his role! I’d vote for him to have his own spin-off twilight movie.

Acclaimed actress Dakota Fanning has officially joined the cast and will play the Volturi Jane in the Twilight Saga New Moon. The rumor was online since a long, but nice to have an official confirmation from Summit Entertainment.

So Dakota Fanning will play the role of Jane, one of the prize members of the Volturi Guard and one of their highest ranking guards, a sadistic person and a pet of Aro a former Volturi leader. She seems rather bitter and easily justifies inflicting pain on anyone with her power. Jane has a twin brother named Alec and they both reside in Volterra, Italy.

The first Twilight movie may have been a low-budget adaptation, but the new film will get more financial support: Summit Entertainment is indeed allocating more cash to the production of this Twilight sequel following the box-office success of the first film. The production team will even be able to shoot a few scenes of the movie New Moon in Italy, in Europe. We’ve got confirmation thanks to Italian movie site Bataste:
I bet many fans of Twilight will claim to be Italian just to be entitled to enlist in this contest!
I hope that this is not just a move for the production team to have some holiday abroad, and that they will really shoot some nice scenes of New Moon in Volterra: the old city looks quite beautiful.

Twilight 2, the New Moon movie so many fans are waiting for, finally gets its official title: it will be The Twilight Saga New Moon.
The book was just titled New Moon, but Summit Entertainment wants everyone to be able to make the link with the previous Twilight movie even if they didn’t read Stepehenie Meyer’s novel. Hence this new official title on which both hardcore fans and newcomers will agree I am sure.

Team Jacob must be happy: Taylor Lautner has been confirmed in his role as Jacob Black in the movie New Moon.
The news of Taylor being replaced by Michael Copon caused such an uproar that Summit Entertainment prefers to play it safe and switch back to Taylor who originally played the role of Jacob, Bella’s friend in the movie Twilight.

But Taylor will have to work out his body for New Moon: in New Moon Jacob is supposed to be much taller and stronger, he is becoming a werewolf after all. So Taylor Lautner will not have a rest for a while!

The characters in Stephenie’s books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.[…]”

So Chris Weitz is taking over the job director at the helm of New Moon, the upcoming sequel to Twilight that should be released in November 2009. Doing so, he is replacing Catherine Hardwicke:
Fans may have felt she did a hell of a job with first movie adaptation of Twilight. But Summit Entertainment definitely wants to switch to Director Chris Weitz for New Moon. Why such a change?

Officially, Catherine Hardwicke is leaving because of timing:
But well, I believe that Summit, who wants to make a real blockbuster, does not think that Hardwicke fits the job anymore. She’s got no experience with fantasy movies and a blockbuster budget may be overwhelming for her.
So Summit Entertainment prefers to hire Chris Weitz to direct the movie New Moon, aka Twilight 2. That’s a bold move that may backlash: Chris Weitz may be expert in doing fantasy, but Catherine Hardwicke is expert in understanding feelings and emotions. Love and characters is what drove throngs of Twilight fans to theaters. Let’s hope that Weitz will be able to mix the best of the two sides!
At least Chris Weitz shows some humility regarding his new job as director of the New Moon movie:
As long as Stephenie Meyer is controlling what’s done on the set of New Moon, Catherine Hardwicke being replaced by Chris Weitz shouldn’t matter that much. The real guardian of the Twilight saga is Stephenie Meyer herself after all!

As long as Stephenie Meyer keeps scrutinizing the development of the movie New Moon, there is no need to worry about the change for the fans.

The movie Twilight, adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s novel of the same name, is not yet out in theaters that Summit Entertainment, the production company behind the Twilight movie, is anticipating a sequel according to Deadline Hollywood Daily (here)! We may suppose that this Twilight movie sequel would follow New Moon the second book of the Twilight series. Check the second book at:

I bet most Twilighters are glad to hear about this sequel.
The expectations will be as high as for the first movie: better for Summit Entertainment to deliver something fans may like otherwise Twilight fans will bear an eternal grudge against the production company… But I think Stephenie Meyer will oversee any sequel and is a guaranty of Twilightesque quality!
